Tamra Judge Blasts Shannon’s Behavior, Reveals Teddi’s Health Struggles and RHOC’s Secret Behind-the-Scenes Drama

Season 19 of The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC) has been a whirlwind of drama, with newcomer Katie Ginella at the center of a heated feud with veteran housewife Shannon Beador. Adding fuel to the fire, Tamra Judge has stepped in, slamming Shannon’s actions toward Katie while opening up about her friend Teddi Mellencamp’s emotional health battle and the intense behind-the-scenes struggles that nearly led her to quit the show.

The tension between Katie Ginella, 41, and Shannon Beador, 61, has been a focal point of the season. What started as a friendly dynamic quickly soured when Katie discovered that Shannon had recorded her during a meltdown at a photoshoot. Katie defended herself, clarifying that the recording was a private voice note shared only with her husband. Shannon, however, alleged that Katie also played it for Alexis Bellino, escalating the conflict.

In an interview with US Weekly at Alexis Bellino’s bridal shower, Tamra didn’t hold back when addressing Shannon’s criticism of Katie. “I think she doesn’t really have a whole lot going on in her life right now,” Tamra remarked, suggesting that Shannon’s attacks might stem from personal discontent. “She doesn’t have kids at home. She doesn’t have a husband or a boyfriend. I think she’s trying to make the best of what she’s got. It’s a little over the top.”

The drama reached a boiling point during a heated confrontation in New Orleans, where Shannon told Katie, “I can’t stand you.” Reflecting on the outburst, Tamra called it “ridiculous,” acknowledging that while Katie may have made mistakes, the intensity of Shannon’s reaction was unwarranted. “You’ll see how that plays out,” Tamra teased, hinting at more revelations to come.

Tamra also addressed rumors that Katie has been in contact with bloggers, a claim that has fueled tensions among the cast. “I honestly have not seen Katie since the last time we filmed together, but we definitely have DMed back and forth,” Tamra shared. Drawing from her own experience as an outsider on RHOC, she empathized with Katie’s struggle to fit in. “I know what it’s like to be an outsider with these girls and how hard it can be,” she said. “I think it’s backfiring. The fans love her, and whenever there’s a gang-up like that, it doesn’t go over well.”

Tamra admitted that Katie isn’t perfect, stating, “Did she mess up? She did. Is she a terrible person who’s a danger to society? No.” Her defense underscores the growing fan support for Katie and suggests that the group’s efforts to isolate her may not end as planned.

Beyond the on-screen drama, Tamra opened up to PEOPLE about the emotional toll of filming this season while supporting her close friend Teddi Mellencamp through a serious health crisis. “One week into filming, Teddi got sick,” Tamra revealed. “It really put me in a tailspin. It was a very difficult season.”

The emotional weight was compounded during a cast trip to New Orleans, a city Tamra had previously visited with Teddi before her diagnosis. “It was the worst thing,” Tamra shared. “Just to try to wrap your brain around it. One of your best friends is fighting for their life, and you’re in the place the two of you were in together before she got sick.”

The strain became so overwhelming that Tamra briefly walked away from RHOC. “I had a hard time. I was like, ‘I just can’t do this. I don’t have it in me,’” she admitted. She informed the producers of her decision to quit, but they encouraged her to take a week off to reflect. “They said, ‘Listen, we know that you’re going through a really hard time. Just take a week off. You need to just relax, and then make a decision,’” Tamra recalled.

During her break, Tamra visited Teddi and spent time at her Big Bear Lake home with her husband, Eddie, and their dog, finding solace in the simplicity of playing in the snow. Ultimately, it was Teddi who inspired her to return. “For the record, Teddi’s the one that told me to get my a** back into the game,” Tamra said. “She’s the one that said, ‘Listen, if I’m not a quitter, you’re not going to be a quitter.’ So I said, ‘Okay, I’m not a quitter,’ and I decided, let’s go back.”

Tamra described season 19 as a transformative experience, one that taught her valuable lessons about friendship and resilience. “It’s been a time of growth and change,” she said, emphasizing that the season clarified “who my friends are, and who my friends are not.” She promised viewers a fresh perspective, stating, “You’re definitely going to see a different side of me.”

However, Tamra was clear that her evolution is for the people in her life, not for the audience. “I’m not doing this for the fans,” she insisted. “I’m trying to be a better person for those around me.”
