DONE in the Bay: Warriors Already PULL THE PLUG on Former Lottery Pick After Brutal 14-Game Stint

The NBA training camps are in full swing, but that hasn’t stopped teams from making last-minute roster tweaks to secure talent looking for a fresh start. On Wednesday, a former Golden State Warriors forward and lottery pick found a new home after being overlooked by the Dubs in free agency.

According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, “The Chicago Bulls and Kevin Knox have agreed to a deal.” The 26-year-old, who has averaged 7.3 points across seven NBA seasons with the Knicks, Hawks, Pistons, Trail Blazers, and Warriors, is getting another shot to prove his worth in the league.

Knox was once heralded as the future of the New York Knicks. The Kentucky standout dazzled during his college days, showcasing his scoring prowess and shot-making ability with the Wildcats. His performances catapulted him up draft boards, leading to his selection as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. For Knicks fans, it seemed like a no-brainer at the time.

However, Knox’s tenure in New York never lived up to the hype. Despite flashes of potential, he struggled to find consistency, resulting in a 2022 trade to the Atlanta Hawks. What followed was a series of short stints with the Pistons, Trail Blazers, and eventually the Warriors, where he signed two 10-day contracts and a final end-of-season deal in 2025.

Unfortunately for Knox, his time in Golden State was far from a fairy tale. In just 14 games with the Warriors, he averaged a mere 3.3 points per game, a far cry from the expectations set for a former lottery pick. With the Warriors focused on building a championship-caliber roster, they made the tough call to move on from Knox ahead of training camp, opting for other pieces to complete their lineup.

At just 26, Knox’s talent is undeniable, and his journeyman status feels like a mismatch for a player with his pedigree. His move to the Chicago Bulls offers a fresh opportunity to rediscover the promise that made him a top-10 pick. If Knox can harness his scoring ability and find a rhythm in Chicago, he could quickly silence doubters and prove he belongs among the NBA’s elite. The stage is set for a potential comeback—now it’s up to him to seize it.
