With less than a week remaining until the NBA regular season tips off, the Golden State Warriors are making final adjustments to their preseason roster. On Wednesday, the team announced the waiving of two players, Marques Bolden and Taevion Kinsey, in a move that sets the stage for their anticipated roles with the G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors.
Both Bolden and Kinsey inked Exhibit 10 contracts at the start of training camp, a deal structure that positions them to receive a bonus if they spend time with the Warriors’ G League affiliate. This decision represents the next logical step in the development path for both athletes.

Marques Bolden, a center who entered Duke University as a highly-touted five-star recruit, has yet to fully live up to that initial hype at the professional level. He has appeared in a total of 18 NBA regular-season games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Charlotte Hornets. During the recent preseason, Bolden saw action in two games, logging 11 total minutes and contributing nine points and four rebounds.
In contrast, Taevion Kinsey’s journey has been less heralded. He went undrafted out of Marshall University in 2023. Since then, Kinsey has signed multiple contracts with the Utah Jazz but has never cracked an official NBA game roster. The 6-foot-5 guard appeared in three preseason contests for the Warriors, playing 13 total minutes without scoring.
The departure of these two players leaves the Warriors with two open spots on their 21-man preseason roster. However, it remains unclear if the front office has immediate plans to fill these vacancies. Any potential signings at this juncture would likely be procedural—players signed and subsequently waived to allocate their rights to the Santa Cruz Warriors, continuing the organization’s strategy of cultivating talent within its development system.
