The Boston Celtics were busy with roster housekeeping on Thursday, making a series of moves to solidify their lineup following the conclusion of the preseason. The team officially waived three tryout players—Wendell Moore Jr., Kendall Brown, and Jalen Bridges—while formally signing Ron Harper Jr. to a two-way contract.
These decisions finalize the Celtics’ three two-way slots for the upcoming season, alongside rookie draft picks Max Shulga and Amari Williams. To create a roster spot for Harper, the Celtics had to waive RJ Luis Jr. from his two-way deal earlier.
While the camp didn’t feature a longtime established veteran like Lonnie Walker IV last season, Moore, Brown, and Bridges are all expected to continue their careers with the Maine Celtics, the team’s G League affiliate, barring any opportunities elsewhere.
A Look at the Waived Players:
Wendell Moore Jr.: A former first-round pick out of Duke in 2022, Moore brought experience from 90 NBA games with Minnesota, Detroit, and Charlotte, highlighted by a preseason dunk.
Kendall Brown: With some NBA experience from 21 games with Indiana, Brown was a 2022 second-round pick and spent last season with the Brooklyn organization.
Jalen Bridges: A shooter from Baylor and West Virginia, Bridges went undrafted in 2024 and was on a two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns last season.
These moves represent the standard procedure of finalizing the roster ahead of the regular season, underscoring the Celtics’ preference for two-way players who fit their strategic framework. Retaining Harper, who impressed during the preseason, was deemed a higher priority than continuing with the other prospects.
