The Boston Celtics have made their final roster moves ahead of the tip-off of the 2025-26 NBA season. According to the league’s transaction log, the team has officially waived two Exhibit 10 training camp signings in swingman Aaron Scott and power forward Hason Ward. Notably, after re-signing former two-way rookie RJ Luis Jr. to an Exhibit 10 deal on Saturday, Boston waived him shortly thereafter.

These moves finalize a 17-man roster for the Celtics heading into the new year, comprising 14 players on their 15-man standard roster and all three of their two-way contract players. Maintaining one open spot on the standard roster is part of the Celtics’ financial strategy, as the team remains slightly above the NBA’s punitive first luxury tax apron.
Instead of remaining with the main club, the trio of Luis, Scott, and Ward are now destined for the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G League affiliate. There, they will become eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 if they remain with the program for at least 60 days. All three possess notable potential: RJ Luis Jr. was the 2025 Big East Player of the Year, Hason Ward showcased impressive defensive efficiency with Maine last season, and Aaron Scott was a key contributor for St. John’s in their NCAA Tournament run.
With the current roster, center Neemias Queta (on a partly guaranteed deal) is anticipated to earn a full guarantee, while third-year forward Jordan Walsh may need more time to prove his mettle.
