UNLEASHED THE BEAST! Eagles RB Pummels Giants in a Brutal Case of History Repeating Itself.

Saquon Barkley was a man possessed on Sunday, tearing through the New York Giants’ defense like a freight train with a piano strapped to his back. On just the second play of the game, the Philadelphia Eagles running back exploded for a 65-yard touchdown run, leaving defenders grasping at air and setting the tone for a dominant 38-20 victory. For Barkley, it was a throwback to his electrifying 2022 season, a reminder of the unstoppable force he can be.

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t like, finally,” Barkley said post-game, a grin spreading across his face. The Eagles star racked up 150 yards on just 14 carries, averaging a jaw-dropping 10.7 yards per run. “Go back and watch the film and see how the O-line blocked on that play. It was amazing.”

That 65-yard sprint to the end zone was Barkley’s first touchdown run of 60-plus yards this season, a stark contrast to last year when he set an NFL record with seven such runs. It also marked his first 100-yard rushing game of the campaign, after posting 11 of them in 2022. For a player who has been waiting to recapture that magic, Sunday’s performance was a statement: the beast is back.

Barkley’s breakout didn’t come from changing his approach. Even through a quieter first seven games, he stuck to his rigorous in-season routine. “You guys see it on Thursday, I’m working on my speed,” he said. “That’s important. When stuff’s not going your way, you can’t lose focus. You gotta stay detailed, continue to stay with your routine and follow the process. I had an opportunity (Sunday).”

That opportunity came early. After the Eagles received the opening kickoff, Barkley’s 65-yard dash gave Philadelphia an immediate jolt of momentum and put the Giants on their heels. New York managed to tie the game at 7-7, but the Eagles kept feeding Barkley, who had already racked up 107 yards on 10 carries by halftime, helping secure a 21-10 lead. “He’s a sparkplug, and you can feel the energy go through the team,” said Eagles center Brett Toth.

Barkley’s day was cut short after three quarters due to a minor groin injury, but he downplayed any concern. “I wasn’t worried about it. I came off, but nothing crazy,” he said. “It’s a long season. I always listen to the trainers and coaches, and they felt like they could finish the game without me. It was fun to be a cheerleader on the sideline.”

Now 6-2 and sitting atop the NFC East, the Eagles head into their bye week with momentum and a healthy Barkley ready to build on this performance. They’ll return to action on November 10, facing Green Bay on Monday Night Football. For Barkley, Sunday was a reminder of what he’s capable of—and a warning to the rest of the NFL that the beast has been unleashed.
