Camavinga in Manchester United’s sights: The Red Devils ready to spend £70 million
According to reports from Spain, Manchester United have identified Eduardo Camavinga as their top priority target for the upcoming winter transfer window.
For the past decade, United have spent heavily in the transfer market, yet results have often fallen short of expectations. Once title contenders, they have struggled to regain their former status. However, since INEOS took over the club’s football operations, there has been a sense of renewal. Under this new direction, United have brought in several quality names such as Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee.

Although Ugarte and Zirkzee are still finding their best form, the other new arrivals have adapted quickly and helped manager Rúben Amorim build a more balanced squad. During the 2025 summer window, United continued their rebuild with the additions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens – signings that have strengthened Amorim’s tactical flexibility.
After focusing on attack last summer, United’s next mission is to reinforce the midfield. Camavinga has emerged as their leading target. The French midfielder still has four years remaining on his contract with Real Madrid, meaning the Spanish club are under no immediate pressure to sell. Even so, Madrid are believed to be open to offers of around £70 million, a figure United are reportedly willing to meet.
Camavinga is most comfortable playing as a central midfielder, particularly in a double-pivot role, though he can also excel as a dynamic box-to-box option. At just 22, he has already shown impressive versatility, often filling in at left-back when needed. His strengths lie in his acceleration, composure on the ball, quick dribbling and strong defensive awareness. Despite his youth, he has proven to be one of Europe’s most promising midfielders – a player with the potential to become world-class.
That said, there remain concerns about his fitness and recurring injuries in recent seasons, something United must evaluate carefully before moving forward. It remains uncertain whether an official bid has been made, but if this transfer goes ahead, it could become one of the biggest deals of the 2026 winter window.
