In a jaw-dropping revelation that’s got fans buzzing, beloved Good Morning Britain presenter Andi Peters has spilled the beans on why he’s repeatedly snubbed one of TV’s hottest gigs – despite a paycheck that could make anyone’s eyes water!
The 55-year-old TV icon, known for his infectious energy on Good Morning Britain and This Morning, dropped the bombshell during a candid chat on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast. “I always say never say never,” Andi confessed. “I was asked to go into it this year. I get asked most years, and I’ve always said no. The cheque is quite big. But I’ve chosen not to. It is well known that it is one of the best-paying shows in television.”
That’s right – we’re talking about a massive offer to join the jungle chaos of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, filmed down under in Australia. But Andi, who’s no stranger to the spotlight, is holding firm. So, what’s the real reason behind this epic rejection? Diving deeper into his philosophy, Andi explained his ironclad rule of separating work from home life. “My job is my job. I take myself to work, I do my job, and I go home,” he shared. “I do my job because I love my job. Everything else, when I shut my front door, that’s my house.”
He even recounted a hilarious anecdote from a past gig: “I remember once I did homes and gardens once. And the question was, can we shoot in the kitchen? I said, well, no, because that’s my house. And so I did the garden, and only the garden, and you never saw the house.”
Hailing from what he calls the “older generation,” Andi believes in keeping things professional. “I come from the older generation. As far as I’m concerned, you do a job because you do a job because you like a job,” he added. “If you work at a supermarket, and you finish on the till, you go home, and that’s your life, you don’t even think about your work until you get back there.”
But it’s not just about boundaries – it’s about shielding loved ones too. “Everybody has a platform to voice their opinion. I will never let somebody be horrible or mean or slag me off to somebody that’s a relation of mine. They didn’t choose to be a relation of mine. That’s blood,” Andi emphasized. “Therefore, I do what I do. They do what they do. And the two don’t need to cross.”
While Andi’s “no thanks” might leave a spot open in the jungle, the buzz around this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is hotter than ever.
