Married at First Sight participants take to social media every year to criticise ‘the edit’, which they argue distorts their narratives to suit the reality programme’s storyline.
However, one former participant reckons the solution to overcoming the notorious edit lies in maintaining complete authenticity.
Nathan Campbell, 25, was matched with Hertfordshire bride Lacey Martin during the 2024 series. Whilst the pair appeared compatible initially, their relationship deteriorated after filming the show.
Reflecting more than a year later, Nathan confessed: “We looked like roses and sunshine, but it was a different story off camera.”
The former MAFS groom has subsequently found romance with fellow reality personality Abi Moores, who entered ITV’s Love Island in 2023 as a bombshell.
Although his MAFS chapter is firmly closed, Nathan has revealed insights into how the programme is edited together.

When questioned whether he shares other MAFS participants’ concerns about the editing process, Nathan responded: “Producers can only work with what they get.”
Speaking on behalf of Heart Bingo, he added: “So it’s really important to just be your true self. Because if you’re hiding behind a mask, it’s only a matter of time before it slips.”
The Somerset native also offered his candid thoughts on this year’s contestants, reports OK!.
“I actually feel a bit sorry for Steven. I think he’s a nice guy,” he revealed.
Steven Springett and his wife Neelima Patel recently departed the experiment following allegations that the groom had been secretly using a dating application.
Prior to their departure, the pair had found it difficult to remain aligned regarding their relationship.

Fellow 2025 participants Julia-Ruth Smith and Divarni Groce Balogun also made a dramatic exit following revelations they had been intimate in private, despite Julia-Ruth’s claims that she wasn’t attracted to her husband.
It appears Nathan already harboured doubts about the South African-born bride. He remarked: “I think Julia Ruth comes off as quite fake.”
Regarding the E4 experts, the 25 year old had only positive things to say.
“They’re all really lovely and super clever,” he acknowledged.
Nathan went on: “Paul, in particular, is incredibly intelligent. Sometimes their reactions might seem a bit over the top, but that’s just to add drama and keep the show engaging.”
