Strictly Come Dancing viewers are expressing concern for one of their beloved contestants following the announcement of week 10’s songs and dances.
This Saturday, Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe will take to the floor with a Cha Cha to Ring My Bell by Anita Ward, whilst Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin will deliver a Jive to Proud Mary by Tina Turner and Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon will also Jive to Right Back Where We Started From by Maxine Nightingale.
Additionally, George Clarke and Alexis Warr will showcase a Quickstep to I Get A Kick Out Of You by Frank Sinatra, Karen Carney and Carlos Gu will present a Couples Choice to Born This Way by Lady Gaga, and Lewis Cope and Katya Jones will perform a Rumba to Falling by Harry Styles.
Nevertheless, fans are expressing anxiety about Balvinder and Julian’s song selection for their jive, particularly given they’ll be competing directly against West End star Amber, who is also tackling a Jive and has previously claimed the top spot on the leaderboard
Heading to Reddit, supporters voiced their worries for Balvinder, who has unfortunately landed in the dance-off on four occasions throughout the series, before Saturday’s programme, reports Wales Online.
One fan commented: “Completely setting Bal up to fail I fear…”, whilst another account stated: “They’re absolutely setting Bal up to go!”, with someone else writing: “Poor Bal like to have Amber doing a jive too is rough” to which another viewer responded: “With Amber having better song!”
Elsewhere, another wrote: “Poor Bal, I’m sure that’s her final week now with that song choice”, a different viewer put: “i’m seeing an alex/bal dance off i’m afraid” while another added: “Happy we get to see an Amber Jive but sad that Bal has one on the same week.”
This follows the latest episode, which was recorded at Blackpool, seeing no elimination after La Voix was sadly compelled to pull out of the competition due to an injury.
Speaking at the beginning of Saturday’s show, host Tess Daly explained: “Now, as you may have heard, La Voix sustained an injury, meaning that she can’t dance in Blackpool tonight, and following further advice from our medical team, we can now confirm she has very sadly had to withdraw from the competition.”
The hosts subsequently announced that no participant would be departing Strictly during its Blackpool special, with no dance-off scheduled, and votes and scores being carried forward to the following week.
La Voix, who was partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, was spotted watching from the audience in Blackpool on Saturday, as the programme’s remaining six couples took to the floor.
In an Instagram post, La Voix revealed: “I’m absolutely devastated to be withdrawing from Strictly Come Dancing.
“This isn’t the glittering exit I ever imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like I’m letting people down. My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot has other ideas.
“Thank you for every cheer, every vote, and every sparkle of support – it’s meant the world to me. This isn’t the ending I imagined, but I’ll cherish this forever.”
