WARRIORS’ TRADE DEADLINE EARTHQUAKE: Golden State LANDS 12 PPG, 8 RPG Shot-Blocker & 12 PPG, 3 APG Guard – And Makes SHOCKING Decision On Jonathan Kuminga’s Future

The Golden State Warriors are at a season-defining crossroads. As the rift between Jonathan Kuminga and the franchise widens, trade rumors are gaining serious momentum. A newly proposed three-team blockbuster deal has emerged, promising to deliver immediate reinforcements to the “Bay” to plug critical gaps, at the cost of a bittersweet farewell to the young forward.

In a scenario outlined by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, three teams would engage in a dramatic roster reshuffle:

Golden State Warriors RECEIVE: Center Daniel Gafford (Mavericks), Guard Ayo Dosunmu (Bulls), and Chicago’s 2029 2nd-round pick.

Chicago Bulls RECEIVE: Forward Jonathan Kuminga, Center Trayce Jackson-Davis (from GSW), and two 2nd-round picks (2030 from PHI & 2032 from DAL).

Dallas Mavericks RECEIVE: Guard Coby White (Bulls) and the Warriors’ 2027 1st-round pick.

This move addresses the real needs of each team: the Mavericks seek backcourt depth, the Bulls target a young talent to pair with Josh Giddey’s timeline, and the Warriors desperately crave rim protection and defensive grit.

A divorce between Kuminga and the Warriors seems almost inevitable. ESPN and The Athletic have both reported that the team is “prepared to discuss trade scenarios” for Kuminga starting January 15th, when he becomes eligible to be traded. His $22.5 million salary is a key asset for facilitating major deals.

Head coach Steve Kerr hasn’t hidden his disappointment, publicly challenging Kuminga on turnovers, conditioning, and consistency. Kuminga’s fall from the rotation in favor of two-way guard Pat Spencer marks a breaking point in their strained relationship. His on-court production has also plummeted, averaging just 7.8 points on 30% shooting over his last four games.

If the deal materializes, the Warriors would finally acquire what they’ve long been missing:

Daniel Gafford: He is precisely the “high-flying center and rebounding threat” the Warriors have lacked for years. He brings paint intimidation, a defensive and physical presence the Dubs sorely need.

Ayo Dosunmu: His strong perimeter defense would make him a crucial supporting piece alongside the stars. He adds much-needed flexibility, athleticism, and secondary playmaking off the bench.

Brett Siegel argues this represents “an immediate competitive upgrade for Golden State.”

Chicago Bulls: They gamble on Kuminga’s latent All-Star potential. Swapping two expiring contracts (White, Dosunmu) for a young talent aligning with Giddey’s development path is a calculated risk.

Dallas Mavericks: They solve their backcourt depth issue by acquiring Coby White, plus a valuable future first-round pick from the Warriors.

The entire plan’s success hinges on whether Chicago still believes Kuminga can develop into the star he was projected to be.

This three-team trade remains speculative, but it accurately reflects the reality in Golden State: patience is wearing thin, and the pressure to upgrade the roster immediately is immense. Parting with Kuminga—an unfulfilled talent—would be a painful decision, but perhaps a necessary one if the Warriors hope to salvage a disappointing season. The trade window is opening, and the “Bay” could soon sport a brand-new look.
