The Golden State Warriors are poised to make a significant splash in the trade market this offseason, aiming to bolster their roster around stars Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green with another elite scoring talent. General Manager Mike Dunleavy is reportedly targeting the guard position, where the team lacks a consistent offensive threat beyond Curry.
Despite the emergence of 2023 All-Rookie First Team guard Brandin Podziemski, who improved his offensive output after the All-Star break, and the addition of Butler as a dynamic rim-runner capable of drawing fouls, the Warriors still need a go-to scorer and one-on-one shot-creator. This gap in the roster became evident after the controversial trade of Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards two summers ago.
However, an opportunity for redemption may be on the horizon. Recent reports suggest the Warriors could pursue Chicago Bulls’ standout guard Coby White, a player who fits the mold of a stellar and underrated scorer similar to Poole. According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel on Twitter/X, while the Bulls are likely to extend Josh Giddey’s contract, “Coby White’s future is up in the air. Chicago wants versatile players who can wear multiple hats.”
To secure White, the Warriors could offer a trade package including young wing Moses Moody, promising forward Gui Santos, and first-round draft capital. At just 25 years old, White has blossomed into one of the NBA’s premier offensive threats. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged a career-high 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.9 steals across 74 games with the Bulls. His exceptional ball-handling and ability to create his own shot make him an ideal fit alongside Curry in Golden State’s backcourt.
White’s expiring $12 million contract for the 2025-26 season adds further appeal, offering the Warriors financial flexibility while acquiring a proven scorer. Though parting with Moody, a developing two-way wing, would be a tough decision, landing White could be the under-the-radar move that propels the Warriors back to the top of the Western Conference.
As the offseason unfolds, all eyes will be on Dunleavy and the Warriors’ front office to see if they can pull off this blockbuster deal and give Curry the scoring partner he needs to chase another championship.
