Chelsea’s future star Geovany Quenda has seen his surgery plans disrupted by red tape, but the Blues have now secured a fresh date for the vital operation in London.

The 18-year-old winger, set to officially join Stamford Bridge in June 2026, was originally scheduled to fly to England earlier this week for surgery on a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. However, bureaucratic hurdles tied to the travel arrangements forced a postponement.
According to reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola, the procedure has been rescheduled for next Monday. Quenda is now expected to travel to London on Sunday ahead of going under the knife the following day.
The injury occurred during Sporting CP’s heated derby clash with Benfica, and the Portuguese giants anticipate sidelining their talented youngster for approximately two months post-surgery.
Despite the operation taking place in England under Chelsea’s close supervision, Quenda’s rehabilitation will occur back at Sporting’s Alcochete training complex – a decision reached through direct discussions between the two clubs.
The Blues continue to play an active role in overseeing key aspects of the prodigy’s development, including medical matters, as they eagerly monitor his recovery ahead of his long-awaited arrival in west London.
