In a stunning turn of events that has Golden State Warriors fans boiling over, forward Draymond Green was tossed from Saturday night’s showdown against the Phoenix Suns after racking up two technical fouls in the first half. The ejection came with 10:39 remaining in the second quarter, leaving the Warriors reeling without their defensive anchor.

The drama unfolded when Green shoved Suns guard Collin Gillespie in the back during a heated play, sparking immediate controversy. While it’s not entirely clear if Green also earned a technical for jawing at the officials, the refs wasted no time showing him the door. Warriors players and coaches were visibly outraged by the call, with the bench erupting in protests as Green stormed off the court.
In his brief nine minutes on the floor, Green managed four points, three rebounds, one assist, and one block—far too little time for the veteran to make his usual game-changing impact.
This latest clash at Chase Center was supposed to be Golden State’s shot at redemption after Phoenix edged them out in a nail-biter on Thursday, clinching a one-point victory on a contentious foul call with just 0.4 seconds left that put Jordan Goodwin at the line for the game-winners.
“We’ll be ready to play. It’s a big game,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr declared before tip-off. “Obviously we lost the last one. I think we’re close, we’ve lost a lot of close games. I think we’re due for a good stretch here and I’m excited to get out there tonight.”

Kerr also touched on the team’s rotation challenges: “We do have guys who we don’t mind playing in short bursts. Gary (Payton II) might be out there for a defensive possession and then come out. Trayce (Jackson-Davis) might play for three minutes then come out.
“I don’t think we have the luxury of just saying we’re going to play eight guys and staying with that. I would prefer that I would just get to a group of nine or ten and just stick with that group, but also have a lot to factor in, lineup combinations, and who’s playing with whom, and with this team that stuff really matters. We’ll probably continue to play a lot of people but hopefully we can develop a pattern that the guys will be comfortable.”
Heading into the game, the Warriors were mired in a frustrating three-game skid, while the Suns had snapped their own two-game slide with that Thursday triumph over Golden State. The Dubs had dominated the first meeting between these rivals back in November, but Phoenix flipped the script earlier this week.
As of now, the Suns hold a commanding double-digit lead, but if any squad can ignite a comeback, it’s the Warriors—though mounting that rally just got exponentially harder without Green’s fiery presence on both ends. Fans are livid online, blasting the officiating and calling this ejection the ultimate nightmare for a team already on the ropes. Can Golden State turn this disaster around? Stay tuned.
