Steph Curry’s old words suddenly haunt the NBA as these two rookies are mentioned!

With the NBA Draft just over two weeks away, the basketball world is buzzing with anticipation following the draft lottery results. The Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs secured the top two picks, setting the stage for Duke’s Cooper Flagg to likely join the Mavericks and Rutgers’ Dylan Harper to team up with the Spurs. While the top two selections seem nearly set, the rest of the draft remains unpredictable, with one name generating significant chatter: Rutgers’ Ace Bailey.

Both Harper and Bailey, considered top-five talents by most evaluators, received a glowing endorsement from none other than Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry earlier this season. Curry’s comments, recently resurfaced by the NBA Draft’s X/Twitter page, have added fuel to the hype surrounding these two prospects.

“Those two guys individually, obviously, they’re super talented, but talent can only take you so far,” Curry said. “Like, what’s your mentality about how much better can you get? How hard do you work? Are you coachable? Stuff like that, and they showed that.”

Curry shared a particularly memorable anecdote about Harper: “Dylan especially, he was funny, he guarded me in a couple pick-up runs we had, I might not have scored on him, and I think he was mic’ed up or something, and he was counting my stats in our matchup. But you love that competitiveness, because they’re there to get better.”

For Harper, landing with the Spurs means joining an exciting young core featuring Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle. This group has the potential to form a dynamic foundation for San Antonio’s future, with Harper’s competitive edge and playmaking ability fitting seamlessly into their roster.

Meanwhile, Ace Bailey’s draft stock is less certain. Many project him as the third overall pick to the Philadelphia 76ers, drawn to his elite scoring ability. However, opinions vary, with some scouts less convinced of his immediate impact. Despite this, Bailey’s talent ensures he is likely to remain a top-five selection.

As the draft approaches, Curry’s words continue to resonate, highlighting not just the raw talent of Harper and Bailey but their drive to improve and compete at the highest level. The NBA is on notice: these two Rutgers stars are ready to make their mark.
