Kevin Durant continues to prove he is one of the NBA’s premier scorers throughout his entire career. In his 18th season with the Houston Rockets, Durant is maintaining elite form, averaging 27.9 points per game over his last eight contests on 48.7% field-goal shooting — remarkable efficiency at any age.

Since the calendar turned to 2026, Durant has been especially lethal in the fourth quarter. He ranks second in the NBA in total fourth-quarter scoring with 102 points, one of only two players to eclipse 100 points in that span (trailing only LeBron James at 104). In Houston’s 14 games this month, Durant is averaging 7.3 points per fourth quarter on 61.5% true shooting, with particular dominance at the free-throw line: 94.4% accuracy.
Following his 33-point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, Durant became the fifth player in NBA history to score 30+ points in three consecutive games after turning 37. The exclusive list before him includes LeBron James, former teammate Stephen Curry, Karl Malone, and Michael Jordan.
Despite Durant’s outstanding late-game scoring, the Rockets are just 8-6 since January 1. Houston will hope to better capitalize on Durant’s clutch performances moving forward to improve their playoff positioning.
