UNBELIEVABLE…Again! Latest Report Puts Warriors on Brink of Losing Giannis Sweepstakes

The NBA rumor mill is spinning out of control, and Golden State Warriors fans are feeling that familiar sting once more. Just when it seemed the Dubs were in prime position to land two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, a bombshell report has flipped the script — putting the Minnesota Timberwolves firmly at the top of the Greek Freak’s wish list.

According to ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel, sources close to the situation reveal that Minnesota is the clear frontrunner in the Giannis sweepstakes. The Warriors? They’re still in the conversation… but barely hanging on.

It’s not hard to understand why Giannis might be eyeing the Twin Cities. At 31, the Bucks superstar is thinking dynasty, not just a one-year run. Teaming up with 24-year-old explosive phenom Anthony Edwards gives him a dynamic young co-star entering his prime — a far more appealing long-term partnership than joining forces with Stephen Curry, who turns 38 in March.

The Timberwolves also boast a deeper, more versatile supporting cast around Edwards right now. Even if a trade sends some of those pieces to Milwaukee, a Giannis-led Minnesota squad looks primed to make serious noise immediately.

Siegel dropped even more heat on Tuesday, reporting that the Wolves are aggressively pursuing Giannis ahead of the February 5 trade deadline. Key names in discussions include elite defender Jaden McDaniels (who’s drawing massive interest league-wide), Julius Randle, Naz Reid, and promising rookie Rob Dillingham.

Rival executives believe if Giannis forces his way out of Milwaukee before the deadline, he’s headed north to Minnesota.

But hold on, Dub Nation — there’s still a flicker of hope.

In a follow-up update on X, Siegel noted that the Warriors remain very much in the mix, armed with an enticing offer loaded with multiple future first-round picks, including highly valuable unprotected selections in 2030 and 2032, plus a pick swap in 2031.

So, who has the better package?

The Timberwolves are short on their own draft capital, meaning they’d likely need a third team to flip McDaniels (or another asset) for picks before routing everything to the Bucks. It’s complicated, but doable — and if Giannis makes his preference clear, Milwaukee might accept a solid-but-not-overwhelming return to grant his wish.

Golden State’s pick-heavy haul could objectively be stronger on paper, especially those distant unprotected picks that could turn into lottery gold post-Curry. Yet the Warriors can’t dramatically sweeten the deal without gutting the very draft capital that makes their bid competitive.

With the trade deadline looming, the pressure is on. Will Giannis push for the young, hungry Wolves and a new-era superpower duo with Ant? Or can the Warriors pull off one more miracle and pair the Greek Freak with Splash Brothers magic?
