Kevin Durant proved to be exactly what the doctor ordered for the Golden State Warriors in the late 2010s.
The mesmerizing 6-foot-11 scoring machine signed with the Dubs in 2016 following a less-than-ideal postseason with the Oklahoma City Thunder and helped Golden State capture two titles in three seasons.
Although Durant departed the Dubs after the 2018-19 season, he has remained a high-level scorer who’s near impossible to stop when he’s in rhythm. The Texas product is averaging 26.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists with the Houston Rockets this season, shooting 51.0% from the field and 40.4% from three.
After efficiently recording 35 points against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday (February 20, 2026), the 37-year-old Warriors outcast made basketball history that’s never been done before by an NBA forward.

It’s safe to say the Rockets hit the jackpot this summer by acquiring Durant in a historic seven-team trade. While Houston showed promise a year ago as a young, up-and-coming Western Conference squad, it felt as though the organization needed to make a splash and raise its ceiling drastically.
Fortunately, Houston did just that, which should give them supreme confidence moving forward.
