Bam Adebayo continues cementing his legacy with the Miami Heat: In their dominant 124-98 win over the Brooklyn Nets on March 3, 2026, Bam surpassed Udonis Haslem to become the all-time franchise leader in defensive rebounding with 4,180 (Haslem previously held 4,179). It’s a massive milestone in Bam’s loyal career – drafted by the Heat in 2017 and with the organization ever since, now the longest-tenured player on the roster.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra told Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald: “It’s a testament to his consistency, and we love to see it. That’s what records are there for, to be broken, especially when it’s quality people that are breaking records. And Bam is a quality human being.”
Adebayo still trails Haslem in total rebounds (5,556 to 5,791), but the gap is closing fast. Bam on Haslem: “I’m on the way, man. He knows it. That gap is getting closer and closer. But like I said, being part of this organization, the guys ahead of me, records are meant to be broken. But they want you to earn them. Obviously, I’m earning it every game, and at some point it’s going to happen.”
Bam’s Big Day Fueled the Rout:
- Team-high 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals, +22 plus/minus in 35 minutes.
- February averages: 20.5 PPG + 10.1 RPG – career-best statistical stretch.
- 3PT attempts surged to 4.9 per game – more than double his previous career high.
Heat (around 32-30 range) in crunch time: Need wins to avoid the play-in for the first time in three years. Bam: “It’s the second half of the season. We need these wins. We can’t have any more slip-ups. We’ve had enough in the first half.”
Collaborative Effort:
- Tyler Herro (back from rib injury): 22 points (8/15 FG) – no drop-off.
- Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Sixth Man candidate): 20 points in 27 minutes.
- No negative plus/minus players – lowest was Jahmir Young (+1 in 3 minutes).
Erik Spoelstra summed up: “We have everything we need. We’ve got a high-powered offense. We’ve got a very good defense. It can be as good as anybody in the league defensively. But we need to put it together, particularly in the moments of truth.”
Heat positioned well for direct playoff spot in the East – with Bam leading, high chemistry, and momentum from big wins. Bam isn’t just breaking records – he’s pushing Miami closer to Finals contention (first since 2020).
