Chelsea’s search for a new manager is ongoing, with Xabi Alonso in the frame to replace Liam Rosenior.

Alonso is one name currently being considered by Chelsea, who are not going to rush their next appointment.
Unsurprisingly, the potential arrival of the former Real Madrid boss has a lot of Chelsea fans talking.
Xabi Alonso would love Jeremie Frimpong reunion at Chelsea
At Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso had huge success using a back three and wing-backs. With that in mind, one Chelsea fan here on TalkingPoints can imagine the Blues making an enquiry for Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong if Alonso does succeed Rosenior.
Things have not quite gone to plan for Frimpong at Liverpool, but he was amazing at Leverkusen, hence the Reds’ decision to buy him.
Under Alonso, the 25-year-old played as a right wing-back and absolutely thrived in that role. Should Frimpong end up at Chelsea, he could start there, while Reece James shuffles over to right centre-back, which was also mentioned on TalkingPoints.
There are a lot of ifs right now. For example, even if Alonso does take over at Chelsea, there is no guarantee that he will even use a 3-4-2-1 formation or something similar.
Liverpool will probably not want to sell Frimpong either. It is still early days for him at Anfield; Arne Slot may want to give the Dutchman time to improve.
Should a right wing-back be needed at Stamford Bridge this summer, though, Chelsea should look no further than Frimpong.
Jeremie Frimpong’s numbers under Xabi Alonso
Frimpong finished his Leverkusen career with 26 goals and 33 assists in 131 games under Alonso, according to Transfermarkt.
Those are terrific stats for someone playing in his position. In a more traditional full-back role, Frimpong has found it hard in the Premier League at times this season, but again he may just need more time to adapt.
Growing up, Frimpong supported Chelsea, which may score him some points with supporters if he ever does move to Stamford Bridge.
