Warriors hold their breath: Suns put an offer on the table for Kuminga that’s too good to refuse!

As the NBA offseason settles into a quieter phase, the rumor mill is buzzing with intrigue surrounding Golden State Warriors’ restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga. The young star’s future is a hot topic, with the Phoenix Suns emerging as a serious contender to pry him away from the Bay Area in a blockbuster sign-and-trade deal.

According to ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania on NBA Today this Thursday, the Suns, alongside the Sacramento Kings, have tabled “concrete offers” and are among the most “aggressive” suitors vying for the 22-year-old NBA Champion. With Phoenix no longer constrained by the NBA’s restrictive second apron rules—thanks to their recent buyout of Bradley Beal—the Suns are in prime position to craft a deal that could see Kuminga earning the $20-$30 million annual salary he reportedly seeks.

One name floated in the proposed trade is Grayson Allen, though Clutch Points NBA Insider Brett Siegel reports that the Warriors have little interest in the sharpshooter. Instead, Phoenix could sweeten the pot with players like Royce O’Neale or Nick Richards, whose salaries and uncertain roles on the Suns’ roster—following their recent offseason acquisitions—make them viable trade chips.

Arizona Sports Insider John Gambadoro notes that landing Kuminga would be a “hard” task for Phoenix, but he’s not ruling it out. As a restricted free agent, Kuminga’s fate remains firmly in Golden State’s hands, as the Warriors can match any offer he receives. This leverage puts the Dubs in the driver’s seat, but the Suns’ persistence and financial flexibility make this a storyline to watch.

Charania also revealed that Kuminga is in no hurry to ink a deal, suggesting this saga could stretch into the later months of the offseason. The young forward’s value is undeniable—last season, in 47 games, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, shooting 45.4% from the field and 30.5% from three. His standout performance in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he stepped up with 20.8 points per game in the absence of Steph Curry, showcased his potential as a cornerstone for any franchise.
