The Los Angeles Lakers’ offseason blueprint has taken a significant hit. One of their most coveted young targets, Peyton Watson, appears poised to remain with the Denver Nuggets, potentially signing a lucrative five-year, $145 million extension. According to Bleacher Report’s cap analyst Eric Pincus, Denver is expected to retain the 23-year-old restricted free agent, a move that could force the Nuggets to explore trades involving veteran wings Cam Johnson and possibly Christian Braun to preserve financial flexibility.

This development complicates Los Angeles’ plans to surround Luka Doncic (and potentially a returning LeBron James) with the exact type of athletic, defensive talent they have prioritized.

Peyton Watson: The Ideal Fit That May Slip Away

Watson checked nearly every box on the Lakers’ wishlist. In ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks’ offseason outlook, the former first-round pick was highlighted as a strong fit for Los Angeles’ three primary roster needs: shooting, a shot-blocking lob threat, and athletic, defensive-minded wings.

During his breakout 2025-26 season with the Nuggets, Watson posted career highs of 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while knocking down 41.1% of his three-point attempts. His combination of size, mobility, and defensive versatility made him a seamless theoretical complement to Doncic’s playmaking and the Lakers’ desire for two-way wings.

However, Denver’s control over Watson’s restricted free-agent rights gives the Nuggets the power to match any offer sheet. Pincus reports that matching is exactly what Denver intends to do — even if it means making difficult roster decisions elsewhere.

Financial Pressure Forces Nuggets to Consider Tough Trades

Retaining Watson at that salary level will push Denver uncomfortably close to the second apron, limiting their future flexibility. As a result, the Nuggets are expected to explore trade options for Cam Johnson and Christian Braun, according to both Pincus and ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

Bontemps recently noted a “growing belief leaguewide” that Denver will shop both wings in an effort to create cap space for Watson and continue retooling around Nikola Jokić.

For the Lakers, this scenario transforms a lost opportunity into a potential new avenue.

Cam Johnson: A Proven Veteran Who Fits the Vision

While Watson represented high-upside youth, Cam Johnson offers immediate, reliable production that aligns with what the Lakers need most: elite perimeter shooting.

In his first season with Denver, Johnson averaged 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across 54 games, shooting a robust 43% from three-point range. His ability to stretch the floor would provide crucial spacing for Doncic, creating better driving lanes and catch-and-shoot opportunities for the roster.

The Lakers’ interest in Johnson is not new. Los Angeles explored acquiring him from the Brooklyn Nets during the 2024 offseason alongside Dorian Finney-Smith. While they ultimately landed Finney-Smith at the 2025 trade deadline, Johnson remained an intriguing target.

Now, with just one year left on his four-year, $100 million contract, Johnson could be available without requiring the massive draft compensation typically demanded for younger, higher-upside players. The Lakers, projected to have significant cap space this summer, could absorb his $23 million salary relatively cleanly.

A Silver Lining in a Disappointing Development

Losing out on Peyton Watson would sting. He represented the rare young wing who could grow alongside the Lakers’ championship timeline. Yet the potential availability of Cam Johnson offers a more veteran, plug-and-play solution — a 3-and-D contributor who has already proven he can thrive in a competitive Western Conference environment.

As the offseason unfolds, the Lakers will be monitoring Denver’s decisions closely. What initially looked like a major setback could evolve into a strategic opportunity to add a shooter who fits seamlessly next to Luka Doncic. In a league where flexibility and adaptability often determine success, Los Angeles may yet turn this “stab in the heart” into another step toward contention.

The Frontcourt Infiltration: Inside Miami’s Strategic Bid for Basketball Dominance

An incredibly volatile and highly strategic landscape-shifting narrative has officially erupted within the professional basketball world, positioned directly at the center of a high-stakes roster reconstruction cycle inside the Miami Heat organization. Following months of persistent speculation tracking the fluid trade markets, a massive administrative confirmation has hit the media cycle via highly respected Milwaukee Bucks reporter Jim Owczarski.

In an explosive disclosure that has sent shockwaves through executive boardrooms, Owczarski confirmed that Milwaukee’s internal stance has fundamentally cracked, indicating that Giannis Antetokounmpo will indeed be traded. Crucially for the South Beach franchise, Owczarski validated that the long-rumored Miami pipeline is an absolute reality, explicitly stating his professional assessment that Pat Riley’s front office currently possesses the single best offer on the table to secure the former league MVP.

The tactical friction surrounding this mega-transaction represents an identical continuation of the strategic standoffs witnessed during the high-stakes NBA Trade Deadline earlier this year. Months ago, the Heat’s administrative staff operated under the firm corporate conviction that they were on the absolute precipice of finalizing an immediate acquisition for the superstar forward. However, Milwaukee’s executive suite ultimately fell victim to cold feet, choosing to temporarily hoard their elite asset in a calculated gamble that an unprecedented bidding war would materialize during the 2026 offseason market.

That gamble has officially backfired. With no rival franchise successfully shifting the leverage parameters or elevating their asset pools beyond Miami’s baseline baseline, the technical momentum has tilted decisively back in favor of the Heat, placing immense psychological pressure on the Bucks to either execute the transaction or risk complete structural stagnation.

The Historical Matrix: Assessing the Second-Greatest Acquisition in Franchise History

Consequently, the structural tracking data surrounding the Eastern Conference power structure warns that Miami cannot afford to slip into a state of administrative complacency. While the Heat currently occupy the ultimate pole position in these historic sweepstakes, the competitive landscape features massive ambush variables from rival front offices.

Elite organizations possessing highly liquid asset pools—including the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Orlando Magic—remain lingering in the background, fully capable of re-engineering their depth charts to present an unpassable package that could instantly leapfrog Miami’s current pole position. The onus sits squarely on the Bucks’ leadership to determine whether they will finally pull the trigger on a franchise-altering rebuild or succumb to executive paralysis once again as training camp blocks approach.

However, the ultimate trajectory of this impending blockbuster transcends the boundaries of standard roster manipulation, positioning itself as an era-defining corporate milestone. For the global basketball fanbase, capturing the elite physical metrics and defensive handling capabilities of Antetokounmpo represents a historical shift that completely dwarfs the previous acquisition of Jimmy Butler.

Industry analysts are aggressively processing the numbers to prove that pulling off this trade would officially register as the second-biggest transaction in the history of the South Beach, trailing only the legendary 2010 signing of LeBron James. As the administrative arrows continue to align favorably for Miami, the energy surrounding the facility has reached an absolute fever pitch, setting the stage for a legalized passing murder unit capable of completely destabilizing every single offensive and defensive trench across the league.

The Boston Celtics are poised to make a seismic shift this offseason, one that could dramatically reshape their championship aspirations. In a proposed blockbuster trade that would send shockwaves through the NBA, the Celtics would part ways with All-Star forward Jaylen Brown in exchange for Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, a four-time Defensive Player of the Year.

The move addresses a glaring need that became painfully evident during Boston’s first-round playoff exit against the Philadelphia 76ers. With Joel Embiid back in the lineup, the Celtics’ frontcourt was repeatedly exposed, forcing head coach Joe Mazzulla to lean heavily on backup options like Neemias Queta. The lack of a true elite rim protector proved costly as the series slipped away.

According to reports, the Timberwolves are conducting a thorough roster evaluation this summer, identifying only a handful of players as truly expendable. While Gobert does not appear to be on the trade block outright, his long-term viability in Minnesota has come under internal scrutiny, per Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer. At 33 years old, the French big man remains one of the league’s most dependable defensive anchors — exactly the type of piece Boston needs to fortify its interior.

The Proposed Framework

In the trade scenario outlined by Fadeaway World’s Nico Martinez, the Timberwolves would receive Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard. In return, the Celtics would acquire Gobert along with Minnesota’s first-round picks in 2028 and 2032, and a second-round pick in 2032.

The contract situation adds layers of complexity. Brown is locked into a five-year supermax extension, while Gobert is on a three-year, $109.5 million veteran deal that runs through the 2027-28 season. The deal includes a player option for the final year and a trade kicker, making it relatively team-friendly in the short term compared to Brown’s massive commitment. For Minnesota, absorbing Brown’s salary would likely require additional roster maneuvers given Anthony Edwards’ existing large contract, though Pritchard’s deal presents little cap burden.

A Win-Now Bet for Boston

For the Celtics, this would represent a clear pivot toward maximizing their current window alongside Jayson Tatum. Moving a player of Brown’s caliber for an older defensive specialist signals an all-in mentality. At 6-foot-11, Gobert would provide immediate upgrades in paint protection and rim deterrence — areas where Boston occasionally faltered despite a strong regular-season defense.

Gobert’s impact goes beyond raw numbers. This past season, he posted modest offensive averages of 10.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game while embracing a reduced scoring role. His defensive presence, however, has remained elite. As the cornerstone of Minnesota’s championship-caliber defense, Gobert helped the Timberwolves upset the high-powered Denver Nuggets in the first round before falling to Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Celtics, who relied on timely defense from Brown and Derrick White during the regular season, lacked that consistent interior presence when the playoff intensity rose. Bringing in a proven rim protector like Gobert could allow Tatum greater freedom to operate and elevate the team’s defensive ceiling in high-stakes matchups.

Strategic Implications

This trade would not come without risk. Brown, despite occasional inconsistencies in the postseason, has been a foundational piece alongside Tatum for years. However, the opportunity to add a four-time Defensive Player of the Year whose defensive impact has been proven at the highest levels could be the missing ingredient for Boston’s title hopes.

As the offseason heats up, Celtics fans will be watching closely to see if management is willing to pull the trigger on such a transformative deal. One thing is certain: if this trade materializes, the Eastern Conference landscape would shift instantly, with a reconfigured Celtics roster betting heavily on veteran defensive excellence to chase another banner.

The Post-Durant Reality: Inside Houston’s High-Stakes Roster Preservation Cycle

An incredibly volatile and highly strategic landscape-shifting narrative has officially erupted within the professional basketball world, positioned directly at the center of a high-stakes roster reconstruction cycle inside the Houston Rockets organization. Following a painful and highly disappointing Game 6 elimination on May 1st at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Rockets have entered their offseason cycle surrounded by heavy media tracking and intense public scrutiny. While industry circles spent months generating extreme hype after the blockbuster acquisition of superstar Kevin Durant, the first-round exit exposed severe depth fractures.

Consequently, prominent league analysts have immediately urged the Rockets to execute back-to-back star hunts, linking the front office to mega-names like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Donovan Mitchell who are rumored to be active in the trade trenches. However, a deep corporate evaluation indicates that general manager Rafael Stone is prepared to resist these external pressures, choosing an aggressive baseline of strategic patience over another roster-gutting trade.

The primary catalyst driving this conservative administrative stance is the hard tracking data surrounding their unavailable asset pool. The Rockets’ front office has correctly argued that they never fields a complete roster for a single minute of the competitive campaign. In a devastating physical blow right before training camp blocks, starting floor general Fred VanVleet suffered a season-ending injury, ensuring he and Durant never shared the floor.

This structural erosion worsened when premium offseason signing Dorian Finney-Smith was sidelined until late December, failing to find his offensive footing upon return, followed by elite rebounding anchor Steven Adams sustaining a season-ending ankle injury in January against the Pelicans. Head coach Ime Udoka and the executive board explicitly confirmed during their end-of-season press conferences that before they dismantle their current core, they must evaluate what this system looks like with a fully operational, healthy deployment.

Asset Depletion and the 2027 Lottery Vault: Preserving the Life After Durant

Consequently, the financial metrics and salary cap realities governing the Rockets’ spreadsheet introduce severe friction to any immediate blockbuster transactions. Houston currently operates with only four roster pieces commanding figures north of the $15 million threshold: Durant, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith, and VanVleet.

With Durant deemed untouchable, Smith emerging from a career-best campaign, and VanVleet holding an implied no-trade clause, matching salaries for an elite asset like Antetokounmpo or Mitchell would require gutting multiple rotation pieces and attaching premium draft capital. This transactional barrier is a non-starter for the front office, which refuses to compromise the franchise’s long-term operational health just to make an impulsive offseason splash.

Furthermore, the strategic architecture of the Rockets’ asset management is heavily insulated by future draft equity. Despite operating far outside the traditional tanking hierarchy, Houston holds a highly lucrative hand in the 2027 draft lottery trenches, owning unprotected draft assets from both the Phoenix Suns and the Brooklyn Nets.

Under the newly re-configured lottery parameters, even a competitive play-in placement preserves a distinct statistical pathway to capture a top-three selection. With Durant undeniably approaching the twilight of his Hall of Fame career, Stone’s administrative directive requires building a simultaneous pipeline for the post-Durant era. Instead of forcing a premature summer blockbuster, the Rockets’ ultimate trajectory focuses on weaponizing smaller financial packages to overhaul one of the worst benches in the league, waiting until the mid-season deadline to trigger an absolute franchise shift if the right scenario materializes.

The Golden State Warriors’ 2025-26 season served as a harsh reminder of the fragility of contention windows. Despite their win-now mandate built around Stephen Curry, injuries to key pieces—including Curry himself and newly acquired Jimmy Butler—derailed their aspirations at multiple points. What began as a push for another title quickly exposed roster shortcomings. Now, with the offseason in full swing, Golden State’s front office appears poised to make a decisive move.

According to a trade proposal floated by senior NBA writer Jake Weinbach, the Warriors are eyeing a significant upgrade by targeting Denver Nuggets-turned-Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. and guard Terance Mann.

In the deal, Golden State would send Jimmy Butler and the No. 11 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft to the Nets in exchange for Porter Jr. and Mann. The move leverages Butler’s $56.8 million expiring contract to bring in two productive players without requiring a massive roster overhaul.

Salary Fit and Strategic Rationale

The numbers align cleanly. Porter Jr. is entering the final year of his five-year, $179 million extension, set to earn approximately $40.8 million in 2026-27. Mann will make $15.5 million on his current deal. Together, they fit comfortably within the financial space created by Butler’s departure.

For the Warriors, this represents an efficient use of an expiring asset. Butler, now 36, endured an injury-plagued campaign that culminated in an ACL tear in January. His recovery timeline suggests he’ll miss a substantial portion of the upcoming season’s first half. While Butler was brought in to accelerate contention, his diminished availability limited his impact and trade value. Trading him now for younger, more reliable pieces may be the most pragmatic path forward.

The Nets, on the other hand, would acquire a high-upside veteran in Butler alongside a valuable first-round draft pick, while offloading Mann’s contract. For a rebuilding or retooling Brooklyn side, the additional draft capital and future flexibility could prove attractive.

Porter Jr.: The Perfect Complement to Curry

At 6-foot-10 with a championship pedigree, Michael Porter Jr. represents exactly the type of high-level talent Golden State needs to maximize Curry’s remaining prime years. General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. has made it clear that surrounding the all-time great point guard with complementary pieces is the organization’s top priority. Porter Jr. checks every box.

In the most recent season, Porter Jr. posted a career-high 24.2 points per game across 52 contests. He has maintained elite rebounding numbers (seven or more per game in each of the last three seasons) and continues to shoot nearly 40% from three-point range for his career. That shooting gravity pairs devastatingly well with Curry’s own long-range pull, creating nightmare spacing for opposing defenses.

Beyond offense, Porter Jr.’s size allows him to mask some of Golden State’s traditional defensive vulnerabilities in small-ball lineups. His ability to stretch the floor, attack closeouts, and contribute on the glass gives the Warriors a versatile two-way forward who can play both forward spots effectively.

Most importantly, Porter Jr. knows what it takes to win at the highest level. He was a key contributor to the Nuggets’ 2023 NBA Championship, appearing in 62 regular-season games and all 20 playoff contests during that title run. At 27 years old, he enters his prime with proven pedigree and significant upside.

A New Era of Lethality for the Warriors

Adding Porter Jr. alongside Curry transforms the Warriors’ offensive ceiling. The duo would create one of the most dynamic scoring tandems in the league, blending Curry’s unmatched off-ball movement with Porter’s size and shooting. Terance Mann provides additional backcourt depth, athleticism, and playoff-tested reliability.

This potential acquisition sends a clear message across the Association: the Warriors are not content to fade quietly. Instead of relying on an aging Butler, Golden State is pivoting toward a younger, more durable supporting cast designed to keep Curry’s championship window open.

While nothing is finalized, the framework of this deal offers Golden State a high-reward path forward. If executed, Michael Porter Jr. could quickly become the most lethal weapon in Stephen Curry’s arsenal yet — a 6’10” scoring threat with championship DNA ready to terrorize defenses alongside the greatest shooter the game has ever seen.

The rest of the NBA has been warned.

Chelsea are preparing for a new dawn under manager Xabi Alonso, whose arrival is expected to bring with it a whirlwind of change at Stamford Bridge.

Among the areas of the squad in which reinforcements could be sought is in goal. Backup option Filip Jörgensen is pushing for an exit after a season being stuck behind Robert Sánchez, whose up-and-down form has led to questions about his own future.

Fortunately for Alonso, there is a relatively deep well of goalkeeping talent across Europe from which to pluck a new stopper if he so wishes. Here are five potential candidates to line up between the posts for Chelsea next season.

Mile Svilar

Mile Svilar has enjoyed two excellent seasons with Roma. | Elianton/Mondadori Portfolio/Getty Images

Having been earmarked for superstardom during his teenage years at Anderlecht, Mile Svilar has undoubtedly come good on his potential in recent years, so much so that Chelsea are already thought to be sniffing around him.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea have proposed a deal worth around $58 million (€50 million, £43 million) for the 26-year-old Roma stopper, but the Serie A outfit are desperate to hold on to the back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Season and are doing their utmost to rebuff approaches.

Roma are believed to be facing financial pressure to sell before the end of June, so this is a deal Chelsea may look to revisit later this month if the funds have not arrived from elsewhere.

Mike Maignan

Chelsea came close to signing Mike Maignan in 2025. | Giuseppe Cottini/AC Milan/Getty Images

Chelsea may have missed the opportunity to land AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who was keen to join last summer before talks between the two sides collapsed over a $5.8 million (€5 million, £4.3 million) difference in valuation.

Maignan did sign a new contract in January but has once again been heavily linked with an exit after Milan failed to match his ambition and qualify for the Champions League. Unfortunately for Chelsea, they haven’t done those things either.

Convincing Maignan to join after a season in which Chelsea’s reputation has plummeted may be easier said than done, but it is a deal the Blues should be trying to reignite.

James Trafford

James Trafford could be on the move. | John Walton/PA Images/Getty Images

There’s a sense of inevitability about Chelsea and James Trafford, who boasts the Manchester City academy routes that seem to be among the top qualities desired by the Blues recruitment team.

A former teammate of Liam Delap, Roméo Lavia, Cole Palmer and Jamie Gittens, Trafford does, at least, make some sense from a practical perspective. The 23-year-old is an excellent shot-stopper and knows how to hold his own with his feet, so much so that some City fans even felt he was better-suited to the team than Gianluigi Donnarumma this past season.

City are not going to be able to keep Trafford as a backup, and most teams across the Premier League are sensing a potential bargain. Chelsea would be very wise to involve themselves in any race.

Marco Carnesecchi

Marco Carnesecchi’s reputation continues to grow. | Image Photo Agency/Getty Images

Marco Carnesecchi has taken a steady route to the top, proving himself on second-tier loans and gradually earning enough trust to test himself higher and higher up the standings. Now, at 25 years old, he’s among Serie A’s elite.

An active sweeper who is just as confident with his feet as he is with his hands, Carnesecchi is the latest in a long line of success stories for Atalanta, whose modest reputation means talents of his quality can often fly under the global radar. Clubs are wisely starting to take notice.

Atalanta are always willing sellers, albeit often stubborn negotiators, but may be open to a cut-price deal for a player who is entering the final two years of his contract.

Robin Risser

Robin Risser brings an added layer of complication for Chelsea’s owners. | Jean Catuffe/Getty Images

The story of Robin Risser is one which does not read well for the BlueCo ownership group. The 21-year-old came through the academy at sister side Strasbourg but never made a senior appearance for the team before being shipped off to Lens for a total package of $5.8 million (€5 million, £4.3 million) in 2025—a deal which allowed them to sign Mike Penders on loan from Chelsea.

Quietly discarded by Strasbourg, Risser enjoyed an utterly outstanding debut campaign with Lens this past season, keeping 11 clean sheets and helping inspire a second-place finish in Ligue 1. He was, unsurprisingly, named the division’s best goalkeeper.

Risser has publicly admitted a desire to remain with Lens, but clubs in France rarely have the financial muscle to resist significant offers from the Premier League. However, whether BlueCo would so openly admit to one of the biggest mistakes of their soccer journey to date is an entirely different matter.

With Alonso set to stamp his authority on the squad, Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation could be one of the most fascinating transfer storylines of the summer. Whether they opt for proven quality like Maignan or Svilar, or younger, high-upside options such as Trafford, Carnesecchi or Risser, the message is clear: Robert Sánchez’s position as first-choice is under serious threat.

Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, with club representatives now in London for face-to-face negotiations.

According to reports, both clubs are ready to sit down and discuss the structure of a potential transfer. If an agreement on terms can be reached, United are expected to submit a formal bid within the next 48 hours.

This marks a significant acceleration in the pursuit of the Portuguese talent. Fernandes has impressed with his technical ability, vision, and composure in midfield, making him a highly sought-after prospect as teams prepare for the upcoming season and the 2026 World Cup.

Urgency Rising as World Cup Looms

The timing is critical. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, United are keen to finalize key additions quickly to allow new signings time to integrate before the international break. Sources close to the negotiations suggest both sides are motivated to reach a resolution soon, though details on valuation and payment structure remain under discussion.

Mateus Fernandes would add youthful energy, creativity, and technical quality to Ruben Amorim’s midfield. His ability to control tempo and contribute in the final third makes him a strong fit for United’s high-pressing system.

What’s Next?

If the talks in London prove productive, this could move very quickly. Manchester United fans have been waiting for midfield reinforcements, and landing Fernandes would be seen as a smart, future-oriented signing.

The pressure is now on both clubs to find common ground. With pre-season approaching fast, United want to avoid any last-minute drama.

Stay tuned — this one is heating up.

The Boston Celtics entered this offseason with questions that simply didn’t exist a year ago. A 56-win season should have brought stability. Instead, they watched a 3-1 lead over the Philadelphia 76ers evaporate in the first round. Jayson Tatum was forced to watch Game 7 from the bench, and the season ended with more frustration than answers.

Now, the difficult roster decisions begin.

One possibility is almost too big to ignore: a potential trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Giannis Has Eyes on Boston

According to multiple reports, including the latest from The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Eric Nehm, Antetokounmpo is not only interested in the Miami Heat but is “very intrigued” by the Celtics. Boston’s depth, defensive versatility, and proven championship infrastructure make them an attractive destination for a player laser-focused on returning to title contention.

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints also noted that a swap involving Jaylen Brown cannot be ruled out, describing Boston as a “watch out for them” team in the Giannis sweepstakes.

The Jaylen Brown Problem

The harsh reality is that any realistic deal for Giannis would almost certainly require sending Brown to Milwaukee. Brown is a five-time All-Star, a Finals MVP, and the player who carried the Celtics through one of their toughest stretches in recent years. He is not a spare part — he is a franchise cornerstone.

Brown has never asked out. He has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay in Boston long-term. Trading him would be emotionally difficult for the organization, the fans, and Brown himself.

Yet the basketball logic is compelling. Giannis would immediately address Boston’s biggest need: impact at the rim. Pairing him with Jayson Tatum and Derrick White would create a terrifying defensive and athletic core built for immediate contention.

Brad Stevens’ Impossible Choice

This is the nightmare scenario for Brad Stevens. Trading Brown raises the ceiling but potentially lowers the floor. The championship window might become shorter, the risk higher, and the emotional cost significant.

Giannis is better than Brown today, but he is three years older and coming off injury issues. Brown is younger, proven in Boston’s system, and already helped deliver a title. Swapping them is not a simple upgrade — it is a massive gamble.

The Celtics do not need more theoretical talent. They need force. They need someone who can punish switches, dominate the paint, and change games physically. Giannis does that better than almost anyone.

The East Is Not Waiting

While the Celtics deliberate, the Eastern Conference continues to evolve. The Knicks reached the NBA Finals. Detroit and Indiana are rising fast. Boston cannot afford to stand still.

Brown’s trade value may never be higher than it is right now. That is the uncomfortable tension Stevens must manage.

Final Word

This is the type of decision that can define a franchise for a decade. Jaylen Brown has earned the right to be seen as more than a trade chip. He carried the team when it needed him most and has been a model professional.

At the same time, the opportunity to add a player of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s caliber does not come often. Stevens and the front office are known for making calculated, long-term decisions. They will need every bit of that composure now.

Whether Boston ultimately pursues Giannis or stands by its current core, one thing is certain: this summer will shape the Celtics’ future for years to come.

The Golden State Warriors are in the middle of a busy offseason, but Stephen Curry has barely slowed down. Extension talks are looming, a film debut crossed $200 million at the box office, new restaurants are opening in Charlotte — and now, the biggest shoe deal of his legendary career.

Curry’s reported 10-year, $400 million global partnership with Chinese sportswear giant Li-Ning has turned heads across the sports world. The deal comes after his long-standing partnership with Under Armour ended in November 2025, closing a chapter that began in 2013 — before Curry had won a single NBA championship.

Draymond Green’s Strong Reaction

Former teammate Draymond Green had plenty to say about the landmark agreement. On the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, Green broke down exactly why the deal made perfect sense for Curry.

“Well, number one, Li-Ning is one of the fastest growing shoe brands in the world,” Green said. “Number two, the opportunity for him to grow Curry Brand globally, the market in China, life after basketball for him. This deal checks all of those boxes and I’m happy as hell for him. I think this is groundbreaking.”

Green went further, emphasizing the significance of signing such a massive deal at this stage of Curry’s career.

“To sign a $400 million plus sneaker deal, allegedly, at 38 years old is unheard of,” Green added. “Which just lets you know the weight that the name Steph Curry carries.”

Beyond Basketball: A 10-Year Vision

The partnership extends far beyond traditional endorsement. According to reports, the deal includes Curry’s ability to sign both male and female athletes under the Curry Brand umbrella, the launch of a dedicated golf product line (fitting given Curry’s well-known passion for the sport), and the opening of Curry Brand retail stores in key markets in both the United States and China.

At 38 years old and with likely just two or three seasons left in the NBA, the decade-long commitment shows that Li-Ning is investing heavily in Curry’s post-playing business empire. This is not just about what Curry does on the court — it’s about who he is off it.

Curry himself acknowledged the moment on social media, posting: “The partnership of a lifetime.”

What It Means for Curry’s Legacy

Embed X: https://twitter.com/StephenCurry30/status/2061568364028502469

Curry already owns the NBA’s all-time record for three-pointers made, four championships, two MVP awards, and twelve All-Star selections. His basketball résumé is complete. This new deal adds another layer to a legacy that has always been about more than just the game.

Green’s reaction reflects the respect Curry commands inside NBA circles — not just as a player, but as a visionary businessman building for the long term.

While most athletes are winding down at this age, Curry continues to build. The Warriors may be focused on one final championship window on the court, but off the court, Curry is securing his future for decades to come.

Final Word

As Green put it best: groundbreaking.

The Li-Ning partnership is a reflection of everything Stephen Curry has represented throughout his career — excellence on the court and forward-thinking ambition off it. The name carries weight in basketball. It turns out it carries just as much weight in the boardroom.

Two or three years left in the NBA. A full decade ahead in business. Stephen Curry is not slowing down anytime soon.

The Los Angeles Lakers are making bold moves this offseason to fortify their roster around Luka Doncic, even as the Slovenian superstar continues to recover from injury with no clear return date set. While the focus remains on strengthening the frontcourt, one name has emerged as a potential game-changer: Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Logan Struck, the three-time All-Star center could be available as the Kings, under new general manager Scott Perry, evaluate their direction following a disappointing season. For the Lakers, acquiring an All-NBA-caliber talent like Sabonis represents a significant opportunity to add proven interior production and rebounding.

How the Lakers Can Land Sabonis

One intriguing trade framework outlined by Struck involves the Lakers receiving Sabonis and Devin Carter from Sacramento. In exchange, the Kings would get Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht (substituting for Dorian Finney-Smith, who has since been traded), and the Lakers’ unprotected 2031 first-round pick.

This deal presents a balanced scenario for both sides. Sacramento would acquire a dynamic offensive talent in Reaves to maintain competitiveness and navigate anti-tanking regulations, along with young assets, a reliable rotation player in Hachimura, and valuable future draft capital. For Los Angeles, the move would bring elite frontcourt help while addressing cap considerations.

Sabonis is signed to a four-year, $186 million veteran extension that runs through the 2027-28 season, with approximately $45 million due next year. Reaves’ outgoing salary and player option provide the Lakers with crucial flexibility, especially as reports indicate they are only willing to move him in exchange for a major star.

Sabonis’ Fit in L.A. With Luka Doncic

Pairing Sabonis with Luka Doncic and LeBron James would instantly upgrade the Lakers’ frontcourt. This season highlighted the need for a stronger interior presence to complement the team’s star guards and wings. Sabonis has established himself as a consistent double-double machine, offering defensive intensity that current options like DeAndre Ayton have struggled to match in a contending context.

While Sabonis is not a stretch big — which could occasionally create spacing concerns — the Lakers can mitigate this by surrounding him with elite shooters to maximize his playmaking and interior dominance.

“Sabonis may not be the exact center the Lakers are looking for, but the two-time All-NBA big man is a proven star in this league and could be a great piece alongside Doncic and James,” Struck noted.

The primary risk lies in availability. Though Sabonis has shown improved durability in recent years with Sacramento, he appeared in just 19 games this season. At age 30, acquiring him signals a clear win-now approach for the Lakers’ front office.

If the deal materializes, the Western Conference landscape could shift dramatically. A healthy Luka Doncic flanked by LeBron James and Domantas Sabonis would create one of the most formidable big-three combinations in the league — blending playmaking, scoring, rebounding, and interior control.

The Lakers’ front office appears committed to building a roster capable of immediate contention. As offseason discussions heat up, this potential partnership between Sabonis and Doncic could become one of the most compelling storylines leading into next season.
