UNBELIEVABLE but TRUE! Latest Draymond Green disrespect highlights a deeply unfortunate Warriors truth

The Golden State Warriors dynasty is crumbling before our eyes—and the latest shot at Draymond Green just exposed the ugly reality nobody wants to admit.

With Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green all staring down the end of their contracts after next season, the Warriors could be plunging into a full rebuild by 2027-28. This year’s squad? Forget contention—they barely scraped by as a play-in team, even with Butler healthy. Massive shake-ups are coming this offseason, and it’s time to face the facts about the core that’s carried them for years.

Enter Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, who dropped a bombshell by naming Green as one of the NBA’s most overrated players. Harsh? Absolutely. But unbelievable as it sounds, this “disrespect” shines a spotlight on a deeply unfortunate truth: Draymond Green might no longer be the irreplaceable force the Warriors need.

Swartz didn’t hold back: “Draymond Green will go down in history as being one of this generation’s great defenders as well as a talented passer who helped propel a Golden State Warriors’ dynasty to four championships. As for this season, however, Green’s reputation no longer comes close to his actual production… If Green isn’t defending at a high level, there’s little else Golden State can count on him for.”

Ouch. Green’s offensive game has shown flickers of life lately—fewer turnovers, some efficient scoring bursts—but that’s not why he’s been a Warrior staple. His bread and butter? Elite defense. And that’s evaporating fast.

Green’s defensive box plus-minus is at a career-low, thanks in part to higher usage, but mostly because his explosive athleticism and quickness have faded—even from last year. Without that shutdown ability, what’s left? A non-shooter who’s tough to scheme around offensively, making lineup construction a nightmare.

Swartz might have gone overboard putting Green at the top of his list, but the inclusion? Spot on. Fans know it deep down—this season has been a wake-up call. Green’s player option this offseason forces the Warriors into a gut-wrenching conversation: Is his legendary reputation holding back the team from building a true winner around Curry?

Trading or moving on from Green won’t be easy with that option looming, but the truth hurts. If his production can’t match the hype anymore, it’s time to cut ties and open up the rotation for fresh blood.

It’s heartbreaking, but unavoidable: Draymond Green’s iconic run in Golden State could be racing toward a shocking, sudden end. The disrespect is real—and it’s forcing the Warriors to confront their painful future.
