Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has revealed the biggest difference at the club since Liam Rosenior took charge: a bold new mentality that has transformed the Blues into a far more aggressive and direct team.

Since the new head coach arrived in early January, Chelsea have won eight of their 11 matches across all competitions. In the Premier League alone, they have recorded four wins and one draw, picking up 14 points in 2026 — the second-highest total in the division, just behind Manchester United on 15.
The Blues have also scored the joint-most goals in the Premier League during this period (15), underlining their attacking intent.
Fofana made it clear that Rosenior’s influence has shifted Chelsea away from the more cautious approach of the first half of the season.
“We are working well, and the mentality is top because the manager comes with a new mentality — a little bit more aggressive when we’ve got the ball,” the defender told Chelsea’s matchday programme.
“The team understands that, and we’re working well. We’re in a good way for the rest of the season.
“It’s a little bit more direct, the tempo is a little bit higher. Without the ball as well, we try to put a lot of intensity into it to recover the ball quickly.”
The change has clearly inspired the squad, but it has not come without cost. Despite the strong run of four wins in five Premier League games, Chelsea have kept just one clean sheet in that time.
Defensive solidity remains an area Rosenior will need to tighten up, as the side discovered in last week’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Leeds United, where their attacking flair was not enough to secure all three points.
