Chelsea’s hierarchy has reportedly set a clear timeline for evaluating head coach Liam Rosenior’s future, with the club planning a formal review of his position no earlier than 2027.

Despite widespread speculation and intense pressure amid a poor run of results, the Blues’ ownership group has issued a strong vote of confidence in the 41-year-old manager. According to reports, Chelsea view Rosenior as a long-term project and have no intention of sacking him in the immediate future — even if the team fails to finish in the top five and misses out on Champions League qualification for the 2026/27 season.
The club’s stance effectively shuts down rumours of an imminent dismissal, confirming that Rosenior’s job remains safe for now. However, the board has earmarked summer 2027 as the earliest point for any structured discussion on whether to keep or part ways with the former Strasbourg boss.
Dismal form under Liam Rosenior
The backing comes at a difficult moment in Rosenior’s short tenure. Appointed on 6 January 2026 on a long-term contract until 2032, replacing Enzo Maresca, the Englishman has overseen a sharp decline in results.
Chelsea are currently on a four-match losing streak across all competitions and have suffered five defeats in their last seven games this month. The low point was a humiliating 8-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16.
Domestically, things have been equally tough. A 1-0 home loss to Newcastle United was followed by a heavy 3-0 defeat away to Everton at Goodison Park last weekend. The results have left Chelsea stranded in sixth place in the Premier League, fighting to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
While the hierarchy remains committed for the time being, the scheduled 2027 review will ultimately determine whether Rosenior is given the full opportunity to deliver on his long-term vision or whether change will be considered further down the line.
