ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN! Marriage Expert Mel Schilling Reveals This GOLDEN RULE – Break It and the Show Fails INSTANTLY!

MAFS UK expert Mel Schilling has revealed a rare glimpse into the matchmaking process behind the scenes, sharing her golden rule for pairing couples.

With the hit E4 series drawing to a close this week after numerous explosive moments – from heated rows to shocking revelations – the Married At First Sight matchmaking methods have frequently faced criticism.

Now, relationship expert Mel Schilling, who has partnered with Google AI to assist singles in their search for love, has spoken exclusively to Reach about the growing challenges facing modern daters, which she says drives many to seek help from reality programmes like MAFS UK.

She explained: “So many people that I speak to who are coming into the MAFS experiment are just exhausted from the dating world, fed up.

“Whether they’ve had a series of relationships that have let them down or they’ve been hurt. They’ve not had any real success in the dating world and were feeling really defeated by it.”, reports OK!.

Mel continued, highlighting that many relationship-seekers become trapped in the same “lazy patterns”, consistently pursuing their usual type based on “superficial characteristics”.

Yet her role as an expert involves pairing individuals she believes are genuinely compatible – which frequently means encouraging participants to move beyond their typical preferences.

The programme has frequently faced criticism for pairing couples who don’t go the distance – this series saw Dean and Sarah struggle to find a “spark”.

Yet Mel confessed that being matched with someone outside your usual “type” can actually prove beneficial for personal development.

She explained: “It doesn’t always come across, people don’t always get the background because there’s only a limited amount of time that we have that can go to air but yes, that is often one of the reasons, you know someone has a history of always dating someone with a certain type.

“We’re not there to continue perpetuating their type, we’re not giving them what they want necessarily, but what they need.”

Regarding her matchmaking approach, Mel revealed she wouldn’t focus on physical attraction, saying: “It’s nothing physical that’s for sure, it starts with values and this is where I think you can start exploring tools like Google AI to flesh that out.”

This method also proves useful for singletons beyond the series, with Mel discussing Google’s AI Mode which can help to “demystify some of the strange and dysfunctional behaviours that are happening in the dating world.”

From understanding behavioural patterns to discovering first date suggestions and dating profile tips, the AI technology was hailed as the “ultimate wingman” to prevent overthinking and anxiety.

When questioned about what makes MAFS UK such a hit with viewers desperate to watch singles search for romance, Mel explained: “Our audiences can see a lot of themselves in our couples and can recognise patterns in their own relationships that they may be seeing on screen.

“They also sometimes take our advice and apply it to their own relationships which is wonderful but of course there’s also the drama as well which is very addictive.”
