Amari Williams Joins the Boston Celtics: Two-Way $85,300 Deal Sends Fans Into a Frenzy

The Boston Celtics have ignited excitement among their fanbase with the announcement of a two-way contract for Amari Williams, the dynamic 46th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Nottingham, England, native brings a versatile skill set and a proven track record that promises to add depth and energy to the storied franchise.

Williams, a 7-foot standout, showcased his prowess across four seasons at Drexel and a standout final year at Kentucky. Over his 141-game college career, he posted an impressive stat line of 10.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game, all while shooting a remarkable 52.9% from the field in just 21.4 minutes per game. His final season with the Wildcats was nothing short of spectacular, as he started all 36 games, averaging 10.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 22.8 minutes. Leading Kentucky in rebounds (306) and field-goal percentage (.561), Williams also tied for the team lead in assists with 115—a historic feat for a 7-footer in the program.

His dominance wasn’t limited to stats. Williams etched his name in SEC history as only the second player to amass at least 375 points, 300 rebounds, 100 assists, 40 blocks, and 20 steals in a single season. Before Kentucky, he was a defensive juggernaut at Drexel, earning three consecutive CAA Defensive Player of the Year awards and two First-Team All-CAA selections. His ability to protect the rim, facilitate plays, and dominate the boards makes him a perfect fit for Boston’s fast-paced, versatile system.

Under the terms of his two-way contract, Williams will split time between the Boston Celtics and their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. This deal allows him to be active for up to 50 NBA games while honing his skills in the G League. According to Sports Business Classroom, the contract guarantees up to $85,300 for the 2025-26 season, with a projected $91,000 for 2026-27, and could secure up to $318,218 in base compensation if he remains on the roster past the regular season’s start.

Celtics fans are buzzing with anticipation, eager to see how Williams’ unique blend of size, skill, and basketball IQ translates to the professional stage. With his defensive tenacity and playmaking ability, the young big man could become a fan favorite in Boston and a key piece in the team’s pursuit of another championship. As the season approaches, all eyes will be on Williams to make his mark in the green and white.
