Arsenal can afford Alexander Isak bid with £150m windfall after funding request

Alexander Isak would cost a British record transfer fee to sign the Newcastle United striker, but Arsenal could generate significant funds during this summer window

Arsenal are understood to be working on a deal for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres after talks over a move for Benjamin Sesko stalled, but Alexander Isak remain a possiblity?

Yes, the Gunners could sign both Gyokeres and Sesko for the cost of buying Isak. However, there is a way to afford such an outlay.

After recouping significant fees from selling squad members during recent summer transfer windows, the club have yet to do so thus far. Marquinhos and Nuno Tavares are the only players to leave for six-figure fees at this stage.

However, the combined revenue from those deals does not even come close to the eight-figure valuation of Isak that Newcastle United insist on. Arsenal would have to sanction a significant sale themselves.

Al-Nassr may help them on that front as the Saudi Pro League side have reportedly requested €85million (£73million) of central funding to sign a left-sided forward. Gabriel Martinelli is said to be one of their targets.

Such a move materialising would go a long way to funding an offer for Isak. Cashing in on Jakub Kiwior could also push their income from player trading into eight figures.

Clubs from Italy are credited with an interest in the Poland international, and an impressive end to last season should see him demand a significant fee. Oleksandr Zinchenko could also move to Serie A for a not insignificant amount.

Further forward, Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson may attract offers around the £20million mark. Then, whatever the club can get for Albert Sambi Lokonga and Fabio Vieira would be a bonus, which should see the combined fees exceed £150million.

That price point seems the starting point for any negotiations over Isak. Depleting their depth by moving on more players than they bring in would be a concern, but signing Isak may well be worth it.
