Austin Reaves cracks viral joke after buzzer-beater lifts Lakers to win

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves continued his scorching hot form to start the NBA season by hitting the game winning buzzer beater in the Lakers’ 116-115 road victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reaves recorded 28 points and 16 assists in LA’s third win of the year, as per NBA.com. And while the former Oklahoma Sooner has been playing some spectacular basketball through the first five games, he joked afterwards that two of the Lakers’ biggest stars probably won’t be that impressed with his performance.

“They’ll (Luka and LeBron) probably tell me I suck because I missed like 14 shots,” Reaves said postgame when asked what he thought Luka Doncic and LeBron James might say about his game winner and overall play.

For the record, Reaves actually missed fifteen shot attempts in the matchup but who’s actually counting when you nail the biggest shot of the game at the buzzer?

Reaves is averaging 34.2 points and 10 assists so far this season, as per ESPN, and the fifth year player has been absolutely huge for a Lakers side that has been without James and who have also missed Doncic the last few games to injury.

And given the status of James and Doncic as two of the best players in the game, it’s no surprise Reaves wants to see them both back on the court playing for the team.

“Get back my brother and LeBron, everybody get back,” Reaves said.

Once James and Doncic do return for Los Angeles, they will look to combine with Reaves with the aim of developing into one of the more formidable ‘big threes’ in the NBA.
