Blockbuster Trade Prediction Sends $109M Champion Back To Golden State. Kuminga Would Be The “Sacrifice” To Bring A Dynasty Hero Home

Reuniting with familiar faces is often the fastest and safest way to guarantee a perfect fit within an organization — and the Golden State Warriors might be about to do exactly that.

According to Blue Man Hoop writer Peter O’Keefe, the most logical and low-risk upgrade available to the Dubs this trade season is bringing back Andrew Wiggins — the beloved NBA champion forward — in a deal centered around Jonathan Kuminga.

O’Keefe wrote on Friday:

“Warriors could reunite with Andrew Wiggins in Jonathan Kuminga trade. Wiggins has a player option for $30.2 million next season, and assuredly wouldn’t cost multiple first-round picks like you’d have to give up for prominent names like Trey Murphy III and Michael Porter Jr. There’s also less risk for the Warriors because they know exactly how Wiggins fits in their system, having been a productive and valuable piece for five years, and most notably as arguably their second-best player in the 2022 championship-winning season.”

Why Wiggins Makes Perfect Sense for Golden State

Wiggins isn’t struggling miserably in Miami — the Heat are 22-20 and still firmly in playoff position without needing the Play-In Tournament. However, his role has become inconsistent and secondary (often No. 3 or 4 scoring option behind Bam Adebayo and others).

Returning to Golden State would instantly:

Elevate him back to a top-three scoring option alongside Stephen Curry and the coreBoost his personal championship ceiling (he was arguably the second-best player on the 2022 title team)Provide the Warriors with a proven, high-IQ wing who already knows the system, culture, and motion offense inside-out

Wiggins’ $30.2 million player option for 2026-27 is a reasonable number — especially compared to the massive draft capital required for bigger names like Trey Murphy III or Michael Porter Jr.

The Trade Fit Is Realistic

Miami could view Jonathan Kuminga as a valuable young rebuilding piece (athleticism, upside, team option for next season), making a straight swap or light package very feasible before the February 5 trade deadline.

No multiple first-round picks needed. No long-term salary headaches. Just a familiar face returning to a system where he once thrived.

The Bigger Picture

The Warriors are trending upward — winning games, getting contributions from role players, and seeing De’Anthony Melton emerge as a real weapon. But adding a proven playoff performer who already knows exactly how to win with this group could be the missing piece to push them from “play-in contender” to “serious threat” in the Western Conference.

O’Keefe’s take is gaining traction because it’s low-risk, high-reward, and emotionally resonant for Warriors fans who still remember Wiggins’ massive impact during the 2022 championship run.

A Wiggins reunion is officially on the table — and it might be the smartest move Golden State can make this deadline.

Warriors Nation, would you welcome Wiggs back with open arms? Or do you want to go bigger with a different target? The deadline drama is heating up.
