BOMBSHELL: Chelsea’s $200M Transfer Web Could Decide Harvey Elliott’s Future at Liverpool

The Premier League transfer window is hurtling toward its dramatic finale, and Chelsea are at the epicenter of a high-stakes saga that could reshape the futures of multiple stars, including Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott. With a jaw-dropping $200 million already splashed on a star-studded cast of signings, the Blues are orchestrating a complex transfer domino effect that could ripple across Europe.

Chelsea have flexed their financial muscle this transfer window, assembling a squad brimming with talent and ambition. The arrivals of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Estevao, and Dario Essugo have transformed the Blues into one of the Premier League’s most formidable sides. But their work is far from done. The Stamford Bridge hierarchy has set its sights on two tantalizing targets: Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho. These potential deals, however, are entangled in a web of negotiations that could indirectly determine the fate of Liverpool’s young star, Harvey Elliott.

At Liverpool, manager Arne Slot has bolstered his squad with eye-catching signings like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez. Yet, to balance the books, the Reds are open to offloading fringe players, with Harvey Elliott emerging as a prime candidate. The 22-year-old midfielder, long admired for his flair and versatility, has been linked with a move away from Anfield for months, but no deal has materialized—until now.

According to Football Insider’s chief transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, speaking on the Inside Track Podcast, Elliott’s future could hinge on Chelsea’s pursuit of Xavi Simons. RB Leipzig, one of the clubs chasing Elliott, are reportedly waiting in the wings. However, their ability to fund a move for the Liverpool star depends on whether they secure a windfall from selling Simons to Chelsea.

“A lot will depend on what Leipzig do with Xavi Simons and his potential move to Chelsea,” O’Rourke revealed. “If Simons makes that move, then it gives Leipzig money to go out there and spend on Harvey Elliott.”

Chelsea’s path to signing Simons is far from straightforward. The Dutch sensation has already agreed personal terms with the Blues, but the deal remains on ice until Chelsea can offload Christopher Nkunku. The French forward, despite his undeniable talent, has struggled to cement a regular spot in Enzo Maresca’s plans, making him a potential sacrifice to facilitate Simons’ arrival. If a buyer for Nkunku—linked with clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle—cannot be found, Chelsea have a backup plan: parting ways with Nicolas Jackson, who has also attracted interest from the likes of Villa and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho appears to be the more attainable of Chelsea’s two targets. Reports suggest Manchester United rejected a swap deal involving Chelsea’s young prospect Tyrique George, but negotiations for the Argentine winger are progressing. With just a week left in the transfer window, Chelsea’s ability to finalize these deals could unlock the funds Leipzig need to pursue Elliott.

As the August 31, 2025, transfer deadline looms, the clock is ticking for Chelsea, Liverpool, and RB Leipzig. For Chelsea, securing Simons and Garnacho would cap off a transformative window, but their success depends on swiftly resolving the Nkunku or Jackson situation. For Liverpool, Elliott’s potential departure could free up funds and squad space, but only if Leipzig receive the financial boost from Chelsea’s transfer activity. And for Leipzig, the dream of landing Elliott hangs in the balance, tethered to the outcome of Chelsea’s blockbuster ambitions.
