With his children by his side at the Kaseya Center, Spoelstra addressed the media before Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets, shifting the focus from loss to what truly matters: family, safety, and the overwhelming support of a community.

“As you can see, I have my kids up here right now, so things in the house, those things can be replaced,” Spoelstra stated. “And if they can’t be replaced, what does it really matter? This is really what matters, family and closest ones. Our dog also was safe and not in the house, thank god. We’re just grateful.”

The fire was reported around 4:36 a.m. on Thursday, while Spoelstra was in the air returning from the Heat’s road game in Denver. Crucially, no one was inside the home at the time. More than 20 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded and contained the blaze to Spoelstra’s property, preventing damage to any neighboring homes.
