But there is a massive, green-shaped obstacle standing in their way: the Boston Celtics.
And if the Celtics decide to make just one move this offseason, they could completely sink the Heat’s Giannis dreams before they even have a chance to become a reality.

If the Celtics were to include Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown in a trade offer for Giannis, the Heat’s theoretical proposal would be completely outgunned .

Jayson Tatum is a proven playoff performer and a top-10 talent when healthy.
There is no package the Heat could assemble that would beat an offer headlined by one of those two players. For Milwaukee, the choice would be simple: take a proven 27-year-old superstar in Brown or Tatum, or take a collection of role players and draft picks from Miami .

This idea might seem outlandish to some, but it is entirely consistent with how the Celtics have operated for years. This is a franchise that seriously explored trading for Kevin Durant in 2022, reportedly offering a package that included Jaylen Brown .
They didn’t pull the trigger then, but the fact that they were willing to have the conversation shows that no one on their roster—not even the “Two Jays”—is untouchable if the right superstar becomes available .
