BREAKING NEWS: The Scoring King returns! Seth Curry confirms his first game back will take place in Golden – REGIONAL RIVALS BEWARE

The Golden State Warriors issued a cautiously optimistic medical update on guard Seth Curry, who has appeared in just two games since rejoining the franchise in December. In a team-released bulletin, the Warriors confirmed that Curry — sidelined for the past 24 games with a sciatic nerve–related injury — is making good progress and will soon take a significant step forward in his recovery.

“Golden State Warriors guard Seth Curry, who has missed the last 24 games due to a sciatic nerve-related injury, was recently re-evaluated,” the team announced. “The re-evaluation indicated that Curry continues to make good progress. He will begin to intensify his on-court workouts this week, including live play, and will be re-evaluated again in two weeks.”

The update signals that Curry is approaching a return to game action, though the Warriors stopped short of providing a firm timetable.

Curry’s Unusual Season Path with the Warriors

Seth Curry’s journey back to Golden State has been anything but straightforward. He originally joined the Warriors during training camp but was waived before the season opener due to salary-cap constraints. The team later re-signed him in December, bringing the veteran sharpshooter back into the organization at a time when shooting depth was a clear priority.

“It’s definitely special,” Curry said before camp. “Feels like a good time in both of our careers for me to be here. I know I’ve said in the past that I wanted my own path, but at this stage, it’s good to be here. I’ve always felt a lot of love from the Bay.”

The reunion carried deep personal significance as well, marking the first time Seth and his older brother Stephen Curry would share a Warriors uniform.

Stephen Curry: ‘It’s More Meaningful Than People Realize’

Stephen Curry emphasized how much having his younger brother in the building meant to him.

“I know how he approaches the game. I know how good he is,” Stephen said during training camp. “It’s cool to practice against him and see what I’ve known for the last decade — how he works, how he carries himself. And he gets to spend time with his nieces and nephews, which is cool.”

Despite the anticipation, the Curry brothers have yet to share the court in a regular-season game this year.

Coach Kerr Calls the Reunion ‘Long Overdue’

Head coach Steve Kerr was an early and vocal supporter of bringing Seth back, describing the timing as “long overdue.”

“I think it’s awesome,” Kerr said during camp. “The timing feels right on this. For years, Seth was in situations where he needed minutes and a bigger role, and we didn’t have that for him. Now, with where both of them are in their careers, it makes sense. Seeing the two brothers side by side was pretty awesome.”

Kerr has repeatedly praised Seth’s professionalism, shooting versatility, and seamless fit into the Warriors’ motion offense — qualities the team desperately needs to improve bench consistency and spacing.

Brief Appearances Before the Setback

Curry has not played since December 4, when he went scoreless in a 99–98 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Two nights earlier, he delivered 14 points in his season debut against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, offering a glimpse of how his shooting could stabilize second units.

Shortly after, the sciatic nerve issue flared up, forcing him back to the sideline.

When Curry does return, he will face stiff competition in a crowded backcourt rotation that includes his brother Stephen, Brandin Podziemski, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, Pat Spencer, and rookie Will Richard.

Stephen Curry Also Nearing Return from His Own Injury

While Seth ramps up his recovery, Golden State is simultaneously preparing to reintegrate its franchise cornerstone.

Stephen Curry is expected to return to practice after missing the last five games with runner’s knee soreness. The injury kept him out through the All-Star break — including the All-Star Game itself — and his return is critical for the Warriors’ push in the Western Conference playoff race.

With both Curry brothers inching closer to full health, Golden State is hopeful that the long-awaited on-court reunion — and a significant offensive boost — may finally be within reach.
