BREAKING: Warriors Dealt Brutal News in Michael Porter Jr. Trade Pursuit

Dub Nation, the trade deadline clock is ticking toward February 5, 2026, and the Golden State Warriors’ aggressive pursuit of upgrades is hitting roadblocks left and right. ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel dropped the latest gut punch Tuesday: The Brooklyn Nets have zero interest in Jonathan Kuminga as part of any Michael Porter Jr. deal – torpedoing internal discussions of packaging Kuminga ($22.5M), Moses Moody ($11.5M), and Buddy Hield ($9.2M) for the sharpshooting forward. “Brooklyn does not appear to have any interest in Kuminga,” Siegel reports, while Nets brass aren’t eager to dump Porter (averaging 25+ PPG on elite efficiency) for anything less than a godfather offer.

This stings because Porter fits Kerr’s vision perfectly: A 6’10” knockdown shooter (40.8% from three) with off-ball mastery – proven winning next to stars in Denver without heavy usage. He’d invigorate small-ball lineups with Draymond at center, spacing for Curry drives and Butler cuts. But with Nets rebuilding smartly post-trade haul, they’re holding firm – no fire sale.

Worse? Top targets Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III remain untouchable. Multiple reports confirm New Orleans demands at least two unprotected first-round picks for either 3-and-D gem – a price the Warriors won’t touch. Steve Kerr’s warning last month echoes loud: “Look at teams that gave up the world… Clippers, no picks. Phoenix, no picks. Milwaukee, no picks. You can paint yourself into a corner.” Golden State (18-16, clinging to play-in) has up to three tradeable firsts but prioritizes future flexibility over all-in desperation.

Bright side? The Dubs are dialing everywhere: Inquiries on Nic Claxton (Nets rim protection), Daniel Gafford (Mavs athletic big), Robert Williams III (Blazers shot-blocking) per Chris Haynes – frontcourt depth hunts without gutting assets. Kuminga (trade-eligible Jan. 15) draws real buzz elsewhere (Kings, Pelicans, Wizards), so a pivot deal could still land a contributor.

Reality check: This core (Curry prime fading, Butler/Green aging) needs a jolt to contend, but ownership’s risk-averse after past lessons. No sacrificing the farm – smart long-term, frustrating short-term.

Dub Nation, panic time or trust the process? Best realistic target left? Sell Kuminga/Moody for a solid role player?
