Brynn Whitfield Shockingly Confesses: She Begged Bravo to Fire Her Before Quitting RHONY – ‘I Couldn’t Take It Anymore!’

Brynn Whitfield has dropped a bombshell about her departure from The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY), revealing that she desperately wanted Bravo to fire her before she ultimately decided to walk away. During the June 18 episode of her Please See Below podcast, the reality star opened up about the emotional turmoil that led to her exit after just two seasons on the rebooted franchise.

Whitfield admitted that she made the decision to leave during the RHONY reunion, describing the experience as overwhelming. “I decided at the reunion that I wasn’t going to [return],” she said. “I was like, ‘This is too much.'” Despite her resolve, Whitfield revealed she initially hoped Bravo would take the decision out of her hands. “I knew I just wasn’t going to do it,” she explained. “But I was hoping that they would either fire me, or I was hoping that they would cancel the show, or they would be like, ‘Hey, we’re done casting. We signed everyone. Sorry, Brynn. Thank you so much.'”

Her decision was partly inspired by Summer House star Paige DeSorbo’s recent announcement of her own exit from reality TV after seven seasons. Whitfield confessed that seeing DeSorbo’s social media post sparked envy and a longing for the same sense of freedom. “I was so happy for her and I was like, ‘I kind of want that for myself,'” she shared. “I was a little peanut butter and jealous. I just want that, like, release.”

Whitfield also toyed with the idea of returning to RHONY in a reduced capacity, citing Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kathy Hilton’s “friend of” role as an ideal arrangement. “That’s perfect to me because I’m like Kathy. I’m just like a young, more lame version of Kathy, less rich version of Kathy,” she quipped.

On June 9, Whitfield formally announced her departure from RHONY via Instagram Stories, reflecting on her time on the show with gratitude. “After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to walk away from reality TV. For now,” she wrote. “The Real Housewives of New York City will always be one of the most fun, chaotic, and magical chapters of my life. It was the honor of a lifetime to help reboot such an iconic franchise. From day one, I’ve believed RHONY is a fan’s show — we’re just temporary custodians of something that truly belongs to the viewers.”

However, on her podcast, Whitfield was candid about the darker side of her decision, admitting she was “so done with this whole dark thing.” She emphasized her desire to move on, stating, “I wish everyone well, and I hope everything’s fine. I honestly do. But at the same time, like, I’m so over it. I want to go back to my life. I want to go back to being Brynn.”

Whitfield’s shocking confession sheds light on the emotional toll of reality TV and her struggle to reclaim her sense of self. As she steps away from the RHONY spotlight, fans are left wondering what’s next for the charismatic star who helped breathe new life into the beloved franchise.
