Coleen Rooney and Danny Jones revealed the hidden I’m A Celebrity ordeal that viewers don’t see on-screen – and how long it really takes to film a Bushtucker Trial.
The pair, both 39, featured on last year’s edition of the ITV show, placing as runner-up and King of the Jungle respectively.
With the current series nearing the end, they joined Coleen’s husband Wayne on his podcast The Wayne Rooney Show.
Naturally, Danny and Coleen were asked about their time in the Aussie camp – dropping some behind-the-scenes details along the way.
Coleen revealed: ‘People say “Is it actually real?” and it is as real as can be.
‘When we first entered the jungle, we got put in a blacked out van like an army van type thing. You don’t know where you’re going.

A year later, Coleen and Danny stopped by Coleen’s husband Wayne’s podcast The Wayne Rooney Show – sharing jungle secrets
‘Next minute you get stopped on the road and I was thinking, “Is this like a stop check or something? Do they do this in Australia?”
‘It wasn’t. You had to get out of one van, be put in another van. Towels over your head so you just don’t know where you’re going. I think it’s just to get you… I don’t know, nervous.
‘The same when you go down to trials, they do it so you don’t see any of what’s going on around ya.’
Danny added: ‘They have these Australian military guys taking you in. To be fair, it’s really good because it does play with your mind.
‘It really does mess you up. It’s part of the fun actually. Once you get used to it, it’s part of the fun.’
Meanwhile, reigning champion Danny opened up about how long it actually takes to film a Bushtucker Trial.
He shared: ‘Watching it back actually, what I’ve noticed is how quick the edit is from walking out on a trial to doing the trial.
‘Because that took around three, four hours when you’re actually there.
‘You’re walking for ages, then you get in the truck, you’re all blacked out, you’ve got a towel over your head.
‘You’re literally… and then you go down the trial, don’t you? It’s like four hours later you’re doing the trial.’
Elsewhere, Coleen opened up about why she agreed to join I’m A Celeb last year – having declined the opportunity in the past.
She said: ‘I just felt like the time was right, the kids were all a little bit older.
‘I think in the past, the kids had been too young to leave them for that amount of time.
‘But also, I’d made the decision to start doing some bits of work again. So I thought that would be a good start.
‘Also, I think it’s… I’ve never been one for reality TV. There’s not much I would do. I’ve always said if I were to do one, I’d do that. I’m quite competitive.’
She added: ‘The feedback I got when I came back, all my close friends and family, at the beginning they were a bit worried about me. Because I was quite quiet and they didn’t see much of me.
‘They said, “We were a bit thinking, is she okay in there?”

During the podcast, Coleen revealed how things became ‘easier’ as the number of fellow celebrities in camp decreased
‘I was weighing up the situation… unless I have to, I’m not really a big talker.
‘Once I get to know people, then I don’t stop but at the beginning, I think we had loads of big characters in there, didn’t we, who were doing all the talking.
‘As time went on, I felt like as the group got smaller, it was easier for me.’
After recording for the podcast, Danny jetted back out to Australia ahead of crowning this year’s winner.
He has appeared in the latest episodes of ITV2 spin-off Unpacked, hosted by Joel Dommett and Kemi Rodgers.
