Chelsea have been handed the ultimate summer lifeline — and it’s landing completely free.

If Enzo Fernandez walks out the door this summer, the Blues have already been told to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the perfect ready-made replacement: Bayern Munich superstar Leon Goretzka.
The 31-year-old Germany international is officially a free agent in June after eight trophy-laden years at the Allianz Arena. Six Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokals, and the 2020 Champions League medal collection prove he’s no ordinary midfielder — he’s a proven winner with over 100 career goal contributions to his name.

This season alone, the 67-cap German has delivered 2 goals and 1 assist in 35 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s side. He’s started 17 of 23 Bundesliga games and shown he’s still a monster in the engine room, even if European minutes have been limited.
European football expert Andy Brassell couldn’t hide his excitement on talkSPORT:
“He’s not at his 2020 peak, but there’s no doubt he remains a very, very good player. Pair him with a top defensive midfielder and you’re getting 10-12 goals a season out of him. He’s tough, versatile, can handle himself defensively, and he’s become even more adaptable because he hasn’t been an automatic starter.”
That’s music to Chelsea’s ears — especially with Ben Jacobs confirming Enzo Fernandez is open to leaving.
Arsenal were the first to knock on the door back in January after Mikel Merino’s injury, but they’ve put any move on ice until the end of the season. Manchester United are also circling with Casemiro’s contract expiring and a massive hole opening up in midfield.
But now Chelsea have been explicitly told: go and rival the Gunners for this guy.
The price? ZERO. No transfer fee. Just wages. A 31-year-old box-to-box machine with Champions League pedigree, physicality to dominate the Premier League, and the ability to play multiple midfield roles across 50-60 games a season.
Rivals are already shaking.
Goretzka has spent his entire senior career in Germany — this would be his first move abroad, and the Premier League scouts have been watching for years.
If Chelsea lose Enzo, they don’t rebuild… they upgrade with a free-agent goal machine who’s ready to hit the ground running.
The bombshell is dropped. The deal is there for the taking. And the rest of the Premier League is watching in panic.
Leon Goretzka to Chelsea? It’s not just possible — it’s looking inevitable.
