In a candid and revealing interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea, Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter didn’t hold back when discussing the tension surrounding newcomer Katie Ginella. The 41-year-old real estate agent opened up about why the Season 19 cast feels “unsafe” around Ginella, also 41, shedding light on a controversial incident that has left the group reeling.
The drama stems from a secretly recorded audio clip of Shannon Beador, 61, allegedly having an emotional breakdown behind the scenes of a cast photo shoot shortly after filming wrapped for Season 18. The recording, which was brought to light by Tamra Judge, reportedly captured Beador at a low point during a tumultuous period in her life, including a legal battle with ex-boyfriend John Janssen over a $75,000 loan for a facelift. Judge claimed that Ginella not only recorded the moment but also shared it with castmates Jennifer Pedranti and Alexis Bellino, Beador’s onscreen rival and Janssen’s fiancée, escalating the betrayal.

Ginella, however, denies sharing the recording with anyone other than her husband, Matt Ginella, insisting she never sent it to Pedranti or Bellino. Despite her defense, Kirschenheiter finds Ginella’s actions deeply troubling. “It’s never bad enough to record anyone. It would never be my instinct,” Kirschenheiter said. “The fact that that’s her instinct is what the problem is. When your instinct is [to] record? Problem! It’s just as simple as that, right?”
Kirschenheiter, a RHOC veteran since joining in Season 13, didn’t mince words, describing Ginella’s decision to record Beador as “icky” and “violating.” She emphasized that Beador was navigating one of the most challenging years of her life, making the act of recording her alleged outburst particularly insensitive. “I’m quite certain that Shannon probably was losing her s—t,” Kirschenheiter acknowledged. “But she also was having, like, the worst year of her life.”
Offering advice to her co-star, Kirschenheiter suggested that Ginella should have confronted Beador directly during filming rather than resorting to recording. “Don’t record it. Go into the next day of filming and tell Shannon,” she said, noting that this approach could have given Ginella a “better trajectory” on the show. Despite Ginella’s repeated apologies to Beador, the two have yet to reconcile, and the incident has left a lasting rift.
Ginella’s struggles extend beyond her conflict with Beador. She’s currently estranged from much of the RHOC cast, including former friends Jennifer Pedranti and “friend of” Gretchen Rossi. While the specifics of their falling out remain murky, a recent controversy involving an anti-Asian video posted by Pedranti and Rossi, 46, on social media has further strained relations. As the first Asian American full-time cast member on RHOC, Ginella, who is of Korean descent, was deeply hurt by the video, which she described as “inappropriate” and “hurtful.”
In the video, Pedranti and Rossi were seen “pretending to fight, squinting their eyes and making Asian faces to Asian sounds,” according to Ginella. “It’s 2025, and I think we should read the room,” she told Virtual Reali-Tea, highlighting the insensitivity of the act. Rossi, when contacted by Page Six, claimed the video was not aimed at Ginella and was not intended to be offensive, stating, “Once it was addressed to us that it could be taken offensively, we took it down immediately.” Pedranti, however, declined to comment.
Kirschenheiter’s candid remarks underscore a broader sentiment among the RHOC cast: Ginella’s instincts and actions have created an environment of mistrust. “I just think her instinct is different than what the show really calls for,” Kirschenheiter lamented, suggesting that Ginella’s approach may not align with the dynamics of reality television.
