GOLDEN STATE DROP A BOMBSHELL: Warriors Give New Update on Seth Curry’s Return Timeline

The Golden State Warriors just dropped major news that has the entire Bay Area buzzing: Seth Curry is ramping up his comeback in a big way.

Seth Curry Injury Update: NBA Insider Reveals Latest on Warriors Guard's Return Timeline

In an official medical update released Wednesday, the team revealed that the veteran guard — sidelined for the last 24 games with a stubborn sciatic nerve-related injury — is progressing faster than expected and is about to take a massive step forward in his recovery.

“Golden State Warriors guard Seth Curry, who has missed the last 24 games due to a sciatic nerve-related injury, was recently re-evaluated,” the Warriors announced. “The re-evaluation indicated that Curry continues to make good progress. He will begin to intensify his on-court workouts this week, including live play, and will be re-evaluated again in two weeks.”

Translation? Curry is closing in on a return to game action, and the Warriors are no longer being vague about it.

Curry’s Wild Ride Back to Golden State Seth Curry’s second stint with the Warriors has been full of twists. He originally signed during training camp, only to be waived for salary-cap reasons. Then, in December, Golden State brought him back when they desperately needed shooting — and the timing couldn’t have felt more right.

“It’s definitely special,” Seth said before camp. “Feels like a good time in both of our careers for me to be here. I know I’ve said in the past that I wanted my own path, but at this stage, it’s good to be here. I’ve always felt a lot of love from the Bay.”

The move also made history: for the first time, the Curry brothers were officially teammates in a Warriors uniform.

Stephen Curry: ‘It’s More Meaningful Than People Realize’ Stephen Curry didn’t hide how much the reunion means to him.

“I know how he approaches the game. I know how good he is,” the two-time MVP said during training camp. “It’s cool to practice against him and see what I’ve known for the last decade — how he works, how he carries himself. And he gets to spend time with his nieces and nephews, which is cool.”

Yet, despite all the hype, the brothers still haven’t shared the court this season.

Steve Kerr: ‘Long Overdue’ Head coach Steve Kerr has been pushing for this pairing for years.

“I think it’s awesome,” Kerr said. “The timing feels right on this. For years, Seth was in situations where he needed minutes and a bigger role, and we didn’t have that for him. Now, with where both of them are in their careers, it makes sense. Seeing the two brothers side by side was pretty awesome.”

Kerr has repeatedly praised Seth’s elite shooting, basketball IQ, and seamless fit in Golden State’s motion offense — exactly what the second unit has been missing.

What We’ve Seen So Far Curry flashed his potential in his two appearances before the injury hit. On Dec. 2 he dropped 14 points in his season debut against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Two nights later he was scoreless in a tight loss to the 76ers on Dec. 4 — and then the sciatic nerve issue forced him back to the sidelines.

When he does return, he’ll step into a loaded backcourt featuring his brother Stephen, Brandin Podziemski, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, Pat Spencer, and rookie Will Richard.

Bonus: Stephen Curry Also Closing in on Return As if the news on Seth wasn’t big enough, the Warriors are also getting their superstar back. Stephen Curry is expected to rejoin practice soon after missing the last five games (and the All-Star Game) with a runner’s knee injury.

With both Currys inching closer to full strength, Golden State suddenly looks like a very different team — and the long-awaited Curry brothers reunion could finally be just around the corner.

The Bay is ready.
