HE’S BACK: The 2.08m All-Star Giant Returns to Rejoin the WARRIORS — A SHOCKING NBA MOVE THAT OPPONENTS NEVER EXPECTED.

A reunion between DeMarcus Cousins and the Golden State Warriors would add veteran scoring, physicality, and low-post presence to their frontcourt depth. If healthy and in rhythm, Cousins could provide a legitimate interior scoring threat and occasional floor-spacing big to complement Golden State’s motion offense and give them a different look when small-ball lineups get neutralized.

Why it could make sense for the Warriors

  • Veteran big with championship experience (2018 title with GSW)
  • Still capable of putting up 15–20 points and 8–10 rebounds when right
  • Low-post scoring and physicality that current Warriors bigs (Draymond, TJD, Looney) don’t consistently provide
  • Floor-spacing flashes (career ~33–35% from three in small sample)
  • Familiarity with Steve Kerr’s system and Warriors culture
  • Likely available on a veteran minimum or short-term deal (age 35, injury history)

Even in a limited role (15–20 minutes), Cousins could punish smaller lineups, give Draymond rest, and provide a different energy and toughness off the bench — especially valuable in playoff series against size-heavy teams.

Realistic scenario (speculative – late February 2026)

Warriors sign:

  • DeMarcus Cousins (veteran minimum or 1-year minimum deal)

No trade needed — Cousins is currently a free agent after bouncing between short stints and buyouts in recent years.

Who says no?

  • Golden State Warriors — They very likely say YES (low risk, high reward). At the veteran minimum, Cousins is almost zero financial risk. If he’s right, he gives them a massive boost in physicality and interior scoring. If he’s not, they cut bait with almost no cap or locker-room damage. Kerr already knows how to use him, and the Warriors have a history of resurrecting bigs (Looney, Bjelica, etc.). This is exactly the kind of low-cost, high-upside depth move they love.
  • DeMarcus Cousins — He probably says YES too. A chance to return to a contending team, play for a coach who believed in him, chase another ring, and prove he still has something left. Golden State offers the best spotlight and winning environment available for a 35-year-old center with his injury history.
  • The NBA — Almost nobody else says no. It’s a low-stakes, feel-good reunion story. Warriors fans would love the nostalgia and toughness injection. League-wide, it’s seen as harmless veteran minimum depth — not a title-altering move, but a smart one.

Bottom line

DeMarcus Cousins back to Golden State is one of the most realistic, low-risk veteran additions floating around this offseason. At the minimum, it costs nothing and gives the Warriors another big body with playoff experience who can punish mismatches, crash the glass, and provide energy off the bench.

The only real “no” would come if Cousins’ health is worse than believed or if the locker room chemistry isn’t right — but both sides already know each other well, and Kerr has a proven track record of managing veteran personalities.

Verdict: Almost nobody says no. Both Warriors and Cousins likely say yes. It’s a win-win depth move with nostalgia upside.

Warriors fans: Cousins 2.0 on the minimum? Sign me up. League: another chapter in the Warriors’ veteran reclamation project. Let’s see if it happens — it wouldn’t be shocking if Boogie ends up back in the Bay chasing one more ring.
