IT’S OFFICIAL! Fabrizio Romano shares the ‘clear message’ he’s getting from Chelsea about Liam Rosenior

Despite mounting pressure from supporters and a disappointing recent run of results, Chelsea have delivered a clear internal message regarding the future of manager Liam Rosenior: the club intends to keep him in charge for next season.

Chelsea v Manchester City - Premier League

Rosenior cut a visibly frustrated figure during Chelsea’s latest Premier League outing against Manchester City, as the Blues slipped further away from the Champions League qualification spots. The result has only intensified scrutiny on the head coach, with sections of the Stamford Bridge faithful openly calling for change and even floating Cesc Fàbregas — currently impressing at Como — as a preferred alternative.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club’s hierarchy remains firmly behind Rosenior.

Speaking on the Market Madness podcast, Romano revealed: “And for Liam Rosenior, Chelsea, since they want to continue with him next season. So that’s the feeling and that’s the clear message at the club. Then obviously we have to see how’s going to be the end of the season. It can’t continue like this, of course. But in general, the feeling at Chelsea is that Rosenior is going to be involved next season and involved also in the summer plans for new signings.”

The endorsement comes after the owners recently backed Rosenior’s decision to internally ban Enzo Fernández following the midfielder’s controversial comments about Real Madrid during the international break. It signals a desire for stability at a club that has seen rapid managerial turnover under the new regime, with Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino, Enzo Maresca, and now Rosenior all having held the reins.

Chelsea prepared to tweak transfer policy for Rosenior

Beyond mere survival, Rosenior is already playing an active role in shaping the squad for the 2026/27 campaign. Reports indicate he has been involved in discussions about incoming transfers, with the club willing to make a slight but significant adjustment to their recruitment strategy. While the core philosophy of investing in young, high-potential talent remains, Chelsea are now open to signing more experienced players to address the squad’s lack of know-how — a need that has become increasingly apparent this season.

One piece of continuity in the youth-focused approach is the imminent confirmation of a deal for highly-rated left-back Valentin Barco from Strasbourg.

The backing from the board gives Rosenior a platform to finish the season strongly and influence the summer window. However, the message from Romano is not unconditional. The club acknowledges that the current trajectory is unsustainable, and results in the remaining fixtures will be critical in determining the scale of his authority heading into next season.

Many supporters continue to question whether the team has genuinely progressed since the departure of Maresca, yet with the owners committed to ending the cycle of constant managerial changes, Chelsea fans may have little choice but to rally behind Rosenior — at least for the foreseeable future.
