LAKERS NATION IN SHOCK: Warriors Land New Update on Potential LeBron James Pursuit

The Golden State Warriors are quickly running out of runway to chase another NBA title with Stephen Curry leading the charge. At this stage, the franchise appears to have just a couple more seasons to make one final push while their superstar is still at an elite level.

LeBron James Will Reportedly Be 'Heavily Recruited' By Warriors Stars In The Offseason

The season took a devastating turn when Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL that ended his year prematurely. Golden State’s hopes of a deep playoff run took a serious hit, though their campaign isn’t finished yet. Still, the uphill climb has many fans and analysts already shifting focus to the upcoming offseason.

For weeks, the Warriors have been heavily linked as a serious contender to sign LeBron James in free agency should he decide to part ways with the Los Angeles Lakers. A Curry-James backcourt would instantly become one of the most exciting pairings in league history.

Now, fresh reporting has dropped a major new twist on those rumors—and Lakers Nation is reeling.

New Update Shared on Warriors’ LeBron James Interest Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey delivered the latest insight into the possibility of James finishing his legendary career alongside Curry in the Bay Area.

“LeBron doesn’t necessarily have to sign with the Warriors (or any other suitor) for the minimum,” Bailey explained. “Golden State could have access to the non-taxpayer mid-level exception this summer. That would allow it to offer a starting salary of $15.1 million. It could also have the $5.5 million bi-annual exception. And the Warriors don’t have to give all of either to LeBron—each of those exceptions can be divvied up among multiple free agents.”

In other words, the Warriors have the flexibility to bring James aboard on a surprisingly team-friendly deal. That would leave plenty of cap space and exceptions to aggressively chase additional pieces and build a true contender around both Curry and James.

At this point, Golden State is positioned as one of the most realistic destinations if LeBron chooses to leave Los Angeles this summer.

What Would LeBron James Bring to Golden State? Now 41 years old, James is no longer the undisputed best player in basketball. But make no mistake—he remains a high-level, high-impact performer capable of elevating any roster.

Through 42 games with the Lakers in the 2025-26 season, James is averaging 21.6 points, 7.0 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He’s shooting a robust 49.9% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc.

Those numbers would immediately bolster the Warriors’ attack and provide Curry with the kind of superstar sidekick he hasn’t had in years. While James may not be a top-five player anymore, his basketball IQ, playmaking, and leadership are still elite.

Whether the Warriors will actually go all-in on James remains to be seen. But the financial flexibility highlighted in the latest reporting makes the move far more realistic than many expected. For Curry, teaming up with one of the greatest players ever would be a dream scenario—and for Lakers fans, this new development is nothing short of a nightmare.
