Chelsea will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16, it has been confirmed.

The draw for the last-16 was held in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday, with Liam Rosenior’s side one of eight seeded teams after they finished in the top eight of the league phase. The Blues were drawn on the silver side of the draw and will face PSG in the next round of the competition.

PSG beat Ligue 1 rivals AS Monaco 5-4 on aggregate to secure their place in the last-16. The current Champions League holders are top of Ligue 1, although Lens in second place are just two points behind.

Elsewhere in the silver side of the draw, Real Madrid will face Manchester City, Newcastle United will face Barcelona and Bodo/Glimt will face Sporting CP. On the blue side of the draw, Galatasaray will face Liverpool, Atalanta will face Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid will face Tottenham Hotspur and Bayer Leverkusen will face Arsenal.

With the Champions League now using a bracket system, just like in major international tournaments, Chelsea and the 15 other clubs still in the competition now know their possible route to the final, which will be played in Budapest on Saturday, May 30.

The Blues will travel to Paris to take on Luis Enrique’s side on March 10/11, with the second leg being played at Stamford Bridge on March 17/18.
