Before Sunday’s game, the Lakers have announced that they have assigned Bronny to the South Bay Lakers (G League).

Via Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation: “The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned guard Bronny James Jr. and forward Adou Thiero to the South Bay Lakers.”

Bronny is in his second season as a pro, averaging 2.1 points and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 39.7% from the field and 41.4% from three-point range in 31 NBA games.

He was selected 55th in 2024 (after one season of college basketball at USC).

While Bronny has yet to earn consistent NBA minutes, he plays well whenever he is with South Bay.

He is averaging 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 53.8% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range in nine games (eight starts).

NBA G League wrote (on February 25): “Bronny James recorded a new season-high, 21 points this afternoon in the @SouthBayLakers win over the Valley Suns. James shot an impressive 64% from the field. 🏹”
