MAJOR CONCERN for Dubs: Warriors’ Steph Curry Dealt Bad News After 16 Missed Games

The Golden State Warriors are staring down a deepening crisis as they await the return of Stephen Curry, their franchise cornerstone and two-time MVP. Curry has now missed 16 straight games since suffering a knee injury on Jan. 30, and the latest update on his recovery has delivered a serious blow to the team’s hopes.

Without their offensive engine and leading scorer, the Warriors have collapsed, dropping 11 of those 16 contests. The skid has dropped Golden State to ninth in the Western Conference standings and turned what was once a promising playoff push into a desperate scramble for positioning.

The situation grew even darker Friday night at Chase Center. Hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Warriors were hoping to end a three-game losing streak. Instead, Anthony Edwards exploded for 42 points, leading Minnesota to a 127-117 victory and handing Golden State its fourth consecutive defeat.

But the final score quickly became an afterthought. In a brutal twist, the Warriors suffered a fresh wave of injuries that left head coach Steve Kerr and the entire organization reeling. As confirmed by ESPN’s Anthony Slater, four more players were lost during or before the game: Draymond Green, Al Horford, Seth Curry, and Quinten Post.

Green was a late scratch because of back soreness. Veteran center Al Horford exited in the first half with right calf tightness, while guard Seth Curry was sidelined by right adductor soreness. Rookie big man Quinten Post suffered a left ankle sprain and could not finish the contest.

This injury avalanche arrives at the worst possible moment. On Wednesday, the Warriors announced that Curry will undergo yet another 10-day re-evaluation — the third straight extension since the original injury. The timeline now stretches deeper into a critical stretch of the season, raising major concern that the 16 missed games could become significantly more.

Adding to the pressure, Golden State faces a punishing six-game road trip beginning Sunday against the New York Knicks. The gauntlet also includes the Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, and Atlanta Hawks — a murderous schedule with almost no margin for error.

Only 16 regular-season games remain. The Warriors currently sit 8.5 games behind the Timberwolves for the final automatic playoff spot in the West. If the deficit widens over the next two weeks, Curry could return to a dramatically altered landscape: not a locked-in postseason berth, but a fight just to reach the play-in tournament.

The mounting setbacks compound what has already been a chaotic year for Golden State. The team has played the entire season without six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

With Curry’s return delayed again and the roster thinning by the day, the Warriors’ playoff outlook is now in serious jeopardy — and the bad news keeps coming for their superstar.
