Chelsea are reportedly surging ahead in the race to sign TSG Hoffenheim’s towering striker Fisnik Asllani, landing a potential hammer blow to Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The 23-year-old Kosovo international, who stands at an imposing 6ft 3in, has exploded onto the scene this season and is now attracting serious attention from Europe’s elite clubs. Despite joining Hoffenheim in 2020 and initially struggling for minutes, Asllani used loan spells – most notably a standout campaign with SV 07 Elversberg in the 2. Bundesliga – to rebuild his confidence and sharpen his game.
This term, he has become a central figure under manager Christian Ilzer. In 20 appearances across all competitions, the powerful forward has delivered seven goals and four assists, helping propel Hoffenheim to a surprising third-place standing in the Bundesliga with 39 points from 19 games.
Asllani’s rise has also cemented his spot in Kosovo’s national team starting lineup, where he continues to impress on the international stage.
Fichajes report that Chelsea, even after splashing out on Liam Delap and João Pedro last summer, remain hungry for another elite-level centre-forward. While Julian Alvarez and Endrick remain dream targets, their sky-high price tags have pushed the Blues toward more attainable options – and Asllani has emerged as a prime alternative.
The west London club are said to have developed a “strong interest” in the Hoffenheim star, and are currently leading the chase ahead of a packed field that includes Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Aston Villa – and bitter rivals Tottenham, who had identified Asllani as a key target.
With his contract running until 2029 and a £26m release clause in place, Asllani represents excellent value for a player of his profile. Comfortable as a central striker, second striker, or even on the left flank, he is two-footed, clinical in front of goal, excellent at linking play, and relentless in pressing opponents.
For Chelsea, securing the signature of this physical “colossus” could prove a masterful piece of business. For Tottenham, watching their London rivals potentially hijack one of their top targets would be a brutal setback in the transfer market.
The race is heating up – and Chelsea are currently in pole position.
