Bulls’ Michael Reinsdorf provides key information in how the team feels about head coach Billy Donovan and his future.

It seems to be a new era for the Chicago Bulls after they cleaned house in firing front office executives Arturas Karnisovas and Michael Eversely, but the question remains about head coach Billy Donovan. While there are rumors around the Bulls and Donovan, owner Michael Reinsdorf would make many claims regarding how the team feels about the head coach.
As speculation around Donovan and Chicago will continue, Reinsdorf would speak to the media on Tuesday and express how ownership wants the coach to be on the team for the future, according to K.C. Johnson. Plus, a decision regarding Donovan and his decision about his future won’t be too long ahead, as a meeting is set for Monday after the regular season is over.
“I want it to be very clear, we want Billy continue to be the coach of the Chicago Bulls,” Reinsdorf said.
Reinsdorf would continue talking about the approach of the team, were Donovan to stay on the team, such as the coach being “more involved” in personnel conversations, and when they eventually interview for a new general manager.
“If we’re interviewing someone and they’re not sold on Billy and a Hall of Fame coach and person who has won championships in college and gone deep in playoffs in OKC and, given teams he was given, achieved good results in Chicago, then they’re not the right candidate for us,” Reinsdorf said.
There’s no denying how disappointing the Bulls have been this season, as the team is 29-49, putting them 12th in the East and eliminating them from playoff contention. It remains to be seen if Donovan stays on as head coach, but the goal for the team now is to finish off the regular season strong with four games left ahead of Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.
