The Warriors just broke into the top 15 of the 2025 mock draft thanks to a completely unexpected trade!

As the Oklahoma City Thunder battle the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals, their front office is juggling multiple priorities, including preparations for the upcoming NBA Draft. With a wealth of future draft assets and a roster full of talent already under contract for next season, the Thunder are in an enviable position. In a bold move from Draft Expert Derek Parker’s latest 2025 NBA Mock Draft, a surprising trade sees the Thunder leveraging their draft capital to make waves, while the Golden State Warriors seize an opportunity to climb into the top 15.

In this mock draft, Parker proposes a trade where Oklahoma City sends the No. 15 pick (acquired via Miami) to the Golden State Warriors. In return, the Warriors offer a 2027 first-round pick (lottery protected). This move allows the Thunder to defer draft capital to a future year, aligning with their long-term strategy, while the Warriors gain a valuable pick in a draft they were previously absent from.

“At No. 15, we have the Golden State Warriors, one of the few teams without a first-round pick, trading up with Oklahoma City to nab Collin Murray-Boyles of South Carolina,” Parker explains. “The Thunder have two firsts this year, but given they are in the NBA Finals and still have developmental players like Ousmane Dieng, Ajay Mitchell, and last year’s No. 12 overall pick Nikola Topic waiting in the wings, it’s not out of the question that they kick these picks down the road as they do here.”

For the Warriors, landing Murray-Boyles at No. 15 is a coup. The 6-foot-7 South Carolina product is one of the standout defenders in this draft class, boasting a strong interior game and drawing comparisons to Draymond Green. While Parker cautions that Murray-Boyles is unlikely to reach Green’s all-time greatness, the overlap in their archetypes makes this an intriguing fit. “He gets the Draymond Green comp, and of course, he’s not likely to become the all-time player that Draymond is, but there is some overlap,” Parker notes.

Murray-Boyles’ defensive prowess and versatility could make him an ideal addition to Golden State’s roster. Learning under Draymond Green would provide the young forward with a mentor perfectly suited to refine his skills. This move bolsters the Warriors’ depth as they gear up for another championship push with Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Green leading the charge.

The trade is a win-win for both teams. Oklahoma City continues to stockpile future assets, maintaining flexibility for their contending roster, while Golden State secures a high-upside prospect to complement their veteran core. If the Warriors can pull off this unexpected deal, Murray-Boyles could prove to be the steal of the 2025 NBA Draft, making this one of the most exciting mock draft trades to watch.
