The Golden State Warriors have just made a blockbuster move to shore up their frontcourt—officially signing towering 6-foot-11 center Ömer Yurtseven to a 10-day contract.

“The Warriors have signed center Ömer (oh-MIAR) Yurtseven (yurts-seven) to a 10-day contract,” the team announced on Sunday.
Fresh off a dominant stint in the G League, Yurtseven has been tearing it up with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Since signing with the Vipers on March 4, 2026, the big man has started all three games, putting up monster numbers: 23.0 points on an efficient 56.9% shooting from the field, 13.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 29.7 minutes per game.
This isn’t Yurtseven’s first rodeo in the NBA. The 27-year-old Georgetown product brings 113 games of league experience—65 with the Miami Heat and 48 with the Utah Jazz (note: earlier reports mentioned Thunder, but his primary stints were Heat and Jazz).
His most memorable chapter came during his time with the Heat, where he was part of the 2022-23 squad that stunned the basketball world—knocking off the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks, the New York Knicks, and the Boston Celtics en route to the NBA Finals. Even though he didn’t see postseason minutes that year, that championship run experience is gold for a Warriors team hungry to contend again.
Yurtseven has already suited up for Golden State in two games, chipping in modest but solid contributions: 1.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game across 7.5 minutes. With the contract still having a few days left, he’s got a prime window to showcase his rebounding prowess, size, and interior presence—potentially earning an extension or another deal with the seven-time champions.
The Warriors, battling injuries and depth issues in the frontcourt, are clearly looking to this 6’11” colossus to provide immediate rim protection, boards, and physicality alongside Stephen Curry’s elite shooting. If Yurtseven clicks in the system, he could become the exact missing piece that transforms Golden State’s supporting cast from good to downright dangerous—giving the Dubs a real shot at shaking up the Western Conference playoff picture and chasing another ring.
Watch out, West—this low-key signing could turn into a massive boost for Steph and company. Title wrecking ball activated? Time will tell, but the Warriors are wasting no time stacking the deck.
